O'NEILL, Raymond D. Raymond D. O'Neill, age 68, of i Old Saybrook, passed 'away peacefully Octo ber 31, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with liver disease. He was born November 8, 1940, to Thomas and Peggy O'Neill in Manchester. He is survived by his loving daughters Cait-lin, Cait-lin, Cait-lin, Tara and Kelly O'Neill from Old Saybrook. He leaves behind brothers and sisters, Sheila Chemerka of Bolton; Thomas O'Neill of Danielson; Peggy Heon of Chatanooga, TN; and Johnny O'Neill of Pocatello, ID. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, dear friends, and his children's children's mother and friend Lisa Ellis. Ray was a proud member member of AA and NA for 29 years. He cherished the lives of everyone at St. John's Church and School, where he formally worked, as well as an alcohol counselor at Stonehaven Treatment Center and Hamilton Connections. Ray devoted his life to helping helping others and was an inspiration inspiration to everyone he knew. Ray was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics. Celtics. He loved extreme sports and all other outdoor activities. activities. Family and friends will gather at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook, on Wednesday, November 4, from 6-9 6-9 6-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thrusday November November 5, at 11 a.m. at St. John Church Followed by the burial at Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook.
