Lawrence G. Schultz, New Jersey, Pennsylvana MERTAN. Andrew P. Mertan, 67, of 16 Sugar Hill Road, Tolland, died Thursday (May 6) at Rockville General Hospital. Born In Mechanlcsville, the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Azud) Mertan, he had lived In Tolland for over 40 years.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion Ellington Post No. 62. Mr. Mertan had worked for Pratt Whitney Aircraft for 43 years before his retirement In 1989.

He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He leaves a sister, Mildred Mikler of Ovledo, three brothers, George Mertan of Hinsdale, N.H., Stephen Mertan of Manchester, and Charles Blake of Vernon; many nieces and nephews; and his friend, Donald Gaus of Manchester. He is also survived by his former wife, Mildred Kova-levich of Tolland. Funeral services will be Tuesday (May 1 1 11 a.m., In Trinity Lutheran Church, Meadowlark Lane, Vernon. Burial will be In Grove Hill Cemetery.

Wllloughby, 78, of 134 Birch Manchester, husband of Anita (Scott) Wllloughby, died Saturday (May 8, 1993) at his home. Born in Tarlffvllle, June 13, 1914, he had been a resident of Manchester over 2i vears.

Prior to retiring, he had been employed at the Pratt Whitney Aircraft Co. in East Hartford over 27 years, and was also a licensed master plumber. Mr. Willoughby was a member of the Manchester Lodge of Elks, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Orient Lodge of Masons In East Hartford. He was also a former member of the Governor's Footguard.

Besides his wife, he Is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George K. (Dawn Markham of Ellington, and Ms. Elaine R. Crocker of Manchester; a son, J.

Scott Willoughby of Bridgton, Maine; a sister, Althea E. Elliott of Simsbury; six grandchildren, Glenn E. Markham and his wife Janice, Stacy A. and Carey A. Markham, Dale L.

Crocker and his wife Lisa, Kristin D. Crocker, and Laura Krfstal Wllloughby; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Markham; and several nieces. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m., at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday, 7-9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 253 East Center Manchester 06O4d. PALAMAR. Henry Palamar, 80, of Vernon and formerly of Manchester, husband of Anna H. (Dru-chyk) Palamar, died Friday, May 7, 1993, after a long Illness. Mr.

Palamar was born Oct. 8, 1912 In the UkraneRussia, came to the United States as an infant, and had lived In Hartford before moving to Manchester in 1959. He had been a resident of Vernon for the past eight years. Mr. Palamar was a U.S.

Army Veteran of World War II with the 248th Field Artillary Unit, serving In Africa, France, and the Battle of Anzio in Italy. He retired in 1972 as a truck driver after almost 20 years with Lombard Bros. Trucking of South Windsor. Mr. Palamar was a member of Sacred Heart Church In Vernon, a former member of St.

James Church in Manchester, and a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 671 of East Hartford. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Richard T. Wallace of Deep River, and Irene and Brian Smith of Manchester; his son, Henry Palamar Jr. of Vernon; and a stepson, John E.

Zak of Las Cru-ces, New Mexico; a brother, Harry Palamar of East Hartford; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be Friday, May 14, 1993, 11:30 a.m., In the Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There are no calling hours. PERRONE. Carmela (Rugglero) Perrone, 80, formerly of McKinley Hartford, widow of Vincent Perrone, died Saturday, May 8, 1993, at a local convalescent home. She was born in Italy, daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Vio-lano) Rugglero, and had lived in Hartford most of her life. She is survived by a daughter, Grace M. Perrone of East Hampton; a son, Vincent Perrone, Jr.

of Hartford; a brother, Joseph Ruggiero of East Hartford; three sisters, Antoinette Ruggiero and Angle Cola, both of Hartford, and Nonie Dl-Benedetto of West Hartford; eight grandchildren, Rosemarle Russell, Mary-Catherine Smith, Christine, Susan, Margaret and Jean Annlno, David Perrone, and John Candela; several nieces and nephews; a daughter-in-law, Eileen T. Griffin of Hartford; and a son-in-law, Joseph J. Annino of East Hartford. She was predeceased by a son, Carmen Perrone; a daughter, Theresa C. Annino; ana a brother, Anthony Rugglero.

The funeral will be Tuesday, 9:15 a.m., from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m.. In St. Peter's Church, 160 Main Hartford. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Doris Maude (Rowley) of Miami, formerly of Hartford, widow of Clarence Redmond, died Friday, May 7, 1993, in Miami, Fla. Born in Cristobal Colon (Canal Zone) Panama, a daughter of the late Alfred and Emily (Garnett) Rowley, she emigrated as a child with her parents to Jamaica, West Indies.

While living there she was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She eventually emigrated to Hartford in 1959. She Is survived by her daughter, Vllma Redmond Levy of Miami; three grandchildren, Myron Rodwell Levy, and Lorl Ann Simons, both of Enfield, and Sonya Kay Levy of Los Angeles, and a host of other relatives. She was recently predeceased by her sister, Beatrice Viola Berwick, Dec.

Raphael "Ray" Hoffenberg, 65, husband of Doris Dooman Hoffenberg, died Saturday (May 8) at his home in Glastonbury. Born in Hartford, he had lived in Glastonbury many years.

He was a graduate of UConn, and served in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. He managed baseball teams, and was treasurer of Tau Epsilon Phi at UConn during his college days. Ray served as president and chairman of the Hartford Jaycees and the Connecticut Jaycees. He was active since 1952 and served as chairman of the ICO (GHO) for several years. He also served as national Director of the Jaycees In the late 50's.

As chairman of the ICO, he presented Arnold Palmer with his first trophy for the first U.S. Tournament win in 1956. Ray also was active In national and state local policies, serving on the Glastonbury Fair Rent Commission, and the Glastonbury Fine Arts Council. He also served for over 10 years as president of the Glastonbury Men's Slow-Pitch Softball League, and played soft-ball in Glastonbury. He managed the Club London's and Robotti Electric Men's Softball Team.

Ray also worked as statistician for central basketball, worked for the Milwaukee Braves organization, and last worked for the Connecticut State Department of Labor for 18 years. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Julianne of New York City; and a son, David of Glastonbury. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anna Hoffenberg; and a brother, Elliot. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m., in the Green Cemetery, Hubbard Street, Glastonbury, followed by a Memorial service, 11 a.m., In First Church of Christ, Glastonbury. The family will receive friends Monday, 6-9 p.m., at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury.

LeBLANC. Russell J. LeBlanc, 65, of Hartford, husband of Helen (Pro-caccini) LeBlanc, died Friday, May 7, 1993, at his home. Mr.

LeBlanc was born July 13, 1928 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and had lived most of his life in Hartford. He was a retired cabinet maker, and had worked for Puritan Furniture Co. of West Hartford, and more recently for B.K.M. Total Enterprise, Inc. of East Hartford.

Mr. LeBlanc was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church In Hartford, and the National AARP. Besides his wife, he Is survived by five brothers, Vincent, Walter, Carl, Clarence, and Robert LeBlanc, all of Nova Scotia; three nieces, Joan, Jean, and Becky LeBlanc; and two nephews, Brian and Freddie LeBlanc. He was predeceased by two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 12, 1993, 8:45 a.m., at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 494 New Brltian Hartford. 20852. McADOO. Edwin 67, of Lazy Lane, Southington, died Friday, May 7, 1993, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of Doris (Button) McCain-McAdoo. He was born in Nashua, N.H., the son of the late George and Pauline (Lucier) McAdoo.

He was formerly self-employed at the McAdoo Foundry In New Britain before becoming foundry superintendant at the North 8, Judd in Middletown, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and a member of B.P.O.E. of Meriden. Besides his wife, he leaves his son and daughter-in-law, George E.

and Diana McAdoo of Southington; his daughter and son-in-law, Jane M. and David DiMauro in three sisters, Marian, Andrea, and Allena McAdoo of Berlin; a brother, Paul McAdoo of Kensington; four stepchildren and spouses, Brian and Vincene McCain of Plalnville, Doreen and Paul Delia Vecchia of Plantsvllle, Lynne and Gary Gworek of Southington, and Laura and Inku Lee of Cheshire; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his former wife, Sophie (Niedzwiecki) McAdoo; two brothers, Raymond and Olln McAdoo; and a sister, Colleen Me-don. Francis Hospital. Born in Ft. Valley, he had lived in Bloomfield the last 26 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Par Excellence Golf Club.

He was an employee of Capital Lighting Supply Co. for 26 years. Survivors include his wife, Diana (Bandy) Booze; a daughter, Tara Renee Booze; his mother, Velma Hatcher Booze of Byron, a brother, William Booze of Miami, five sisters, Mildred Murphy of Windsor, Hazel Clark, and Barbara Booth, both of Byron, Cynthia Stuckey and Vivian Robinson of Warner Robin, two aunts; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Mabel (Pereau) Cosclna, of New Britain, died Friday (May 7) in New Britan General Hospital after a short Illness. She was the widow of Frank Cosclna, Jr. Born in New Britain, she had been a lifelong resident. She was a member of St. Ann's Church, New Britain, an avid bowler with the Alley Cats, and very fond of all animals.

She leaves a sister, Maddie Talbot of New Britain; two sisters-in-law, June Pereau of New Britain, Theresa Pereau of Southington; several nieces and nephews; several greatnieces and greatnephews; and a few great-greatnieces. Atty. Robert Lebovitz, of West Hartford, died May 7, 1993. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Mond) Lebovitz; devoted father of Samuel Lebovitz of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joseph Lebovitz of Newington, and Alisa Keane and her husband James of Win-sted; loving brother of Albert Lebowitz and his wife Mildred, Jacob Lebovitz and his wife Natalie, Edward Lebovitz and his wife Shirley, and Gilbert Lebovitz; dear son-in-law of Lilian S. Mond. He is also surviving by loving nieces and nephew, and grand-nieces and grandnephews.

Poet Eunice (Palmer) Anttalalnen, 77, widow of Gerhard Anttalainen of 162 Colton Windsor, died Saturday (May 8) at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Hartford, and had lived there before moving to Windsor in 1959. Before retirement, she was an accountant for The Travelers Insurance Hartford, for many years. She was a graduate of the University of Hartford, and a member of the Wilson Congregational Church. Mrs.

Anttalainen was a member of the Connecticut Poetry Association, and a supporter of environmental and social causes. She is survived by a son, Stephen J. Anttalainen of Los Angeles, a daughter, Lillie Palmer of Manhattan, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Wilson Con- gregational Church, 691 Windsor Windsor, with the Rev. Bruce MacCleod, officiating.

Edward Bedus, 71, of New- ington, died Saturday, May 8, 1993, at the Newington Veterans Hospital. He was the beloved hus band of Jean (Kilbourne) Bedus. Born in Newington, son of the late John and Magdelena (Rembisz) Bedus, he was a lifelonq resident, and was a member of St. Mary's Church. Mr.

Bedus was a greens-keeper at Indian Hill Country Club, Newington, for many years, retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, and was a member of Indian Hill Country Club, Polish American Club, and VFW Post No. 254, Hartford. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Michael, Mark, and Edward Bedus, all of Newington; a daughter, Deborah Bedus of Hurst, Texas; his grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph and Stanley Bedus, both of Newington, and John Bedus of Hartford; three sisters, Helen Kwolek of Wallingford, Grace Kasper, and Florence Re--dekas, both of Newington; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 9:15 a.m., from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church. CURTISS. Anna (O'Donnell) Curtiss, 91, formerly of Seminary Road, Simsbury, wife of the late Richard Edward Curtiss, died Saturday, May 8, 1993, at McLean Home In Simsbury. She was born August 9, 1901 in Avon, daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Mar-cou) O'Donnell, and had lived In Simsbury most of her life. She graduated frcm Simsbury High School and Danbury Normal School. Mrs.

Curtiss taught second 't grade in Simsbury for 10 years, and was employed at the Sims-bury Post Office until her retire-, ment. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, American Legion Auxiliary, A.A.R.P., Seniors of Simsbury, and the McLean Home Auxiliary. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Lorraine Curtiss of Simsbury; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Clark of Vero Beach, and Eileen and Charles Mainville of Coral Springs, a sister, Alice Kobza of Simsbury; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nancy Ann Clark. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland, and had lived in the Hartford area for many years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Pratt 8, Whitney, East Hartford, for 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Brigid Church, West Hartford, and a member of the Irish-American Club, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He is survived by two sons, John M.

Donnelly of West Hartford, and James P. Donnelly of Manchester; and two grandchildren, Casey and Brendan. Moreen, a former senior executive of Aetna Life Casualty, died on May 5 In Peterborough, N.H. He was eighty years old. Mr. Moreen was born and raised on a farm near Salina, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University on a scholarship funded by the Union Pacific Railroad, awarded to the outstanding 4-H Club member of his country.

In 1936, he received his B.S. in Animal Husbandry. While at college, he was vice president of his class, vice president of the Student Governing Association, Business Manager of the "Royal Purple" Yearbook, and treasurer of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was a member of the Kansas State Meat Judging Team which won the NatlonaiChampionship in 1934 with the highest score recorded to that time. Throughout his high school and college years, he was a leader in local and state 4-H Club affairs.

Upon graduation, Mr. Moreen joined the Group Division of Aetna Life Casualty where he rose to the rank of Vice President. He served as director of several insurance trade organizations, and was Chairman of the Health Insurance Council. In 1955, Mr. Moreen was tapped by then Aetna President, Henry S.

Beers to become Corporate Secretary and Vice President. In addition to broad management responsibli-ties, Mr. Moreen was asked to lead Aetna toward greater participation in Greater Hartford's civic affairs and corporate responsibi-fltes. He became recognized as Aetna's ambassador to the Greater Hartford Community. Within the Aetna, Mr.

Moreen established a corporate gifts program and served as the first chairman of its Corporate Gifts Committee. He was responsible for Aetna's part in its joint venture with the city to develop the Hartford Civic Center. In addition to his Aetna duties, Mr. Moreen undertook a wide range of civic duties of his own. He served as President of the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce where, during his tenure.

Project Concern was developed. He served as a director or co-operator of a number of organizations including the Hartford Hospital, the Hartford Symphony Endowment Fund, Junior Achievement, The Institute of Living, the YMCA, the United Fund, and Connecticut Public Television. He was a member of the West Hartford Board of Education and a Trustee of St. Joseph's College. He was a Vestryman of St.

James's Episcopal Church. In 1973, Mr. Moreen retired from the the Aetna as Senior Vice President and Secretary. He served as a management consultant to business organizations Including Hospital Corporation of America, and Amoco Travel Club. He was a Director of the American Life Insurance Co.

He continued his interest in community service as a volunteer with the National Executive Service Corps and completed a management study for the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut. He became a Trustee of Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America (A national organization developing scolar-ship programs) where he served as Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was recognized by that organization in being named an Honor-Roll Trustee. During World War II, Mr. Moreen served in the U.S.

Army attaining the rank of Major. For 50 years, Howard shared a rich and rewarding relationship with his beloved wife, Polly, who predeceased him, dying in 1988. Surviving are two sons, Robert A. of Bala Cynwyd, and William H. of Greenfield, N.H.; two daughters, Martha Moreen of Belmont, and Joanne Johnson of West Hartford; seven grandsons and a granddaughter.

He is also survived by a brother, Thomas R. of Glenmont, N.Y.; four sisters, Genevieve Maneval of Jasper, Edna Lengel of Goleta, Hazel Beggs of Salina, Kansas, and Betty Larsen in North Dakota. His brother Robert was killed In combat during World War II. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, at St. James Episcopal Church, West Hartford, and at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 20, at All Saints Episcopal Church, Peterborough, N.H.

Carmen Iris Osorio was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on July 10, 1957, and went to sleep Saturday, May 5, 1993. She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses Congregation. She has resided in the City of Hartford since 1982. TAYLOR. Patricia (Price), 43, of Hartford, departed this life Thursday (May 6) In the hospice unit of a local Windsor convalescent home. She was born In Hartford, Feb. 12, 1950, to Mrs. Florence (Kiser) Wollaston of Manchester, and the late Hagood Price, and was a resident of Hartford for most of her life.

She was a member of Resurrection Life Christian Church of Bloomfield, a graduate of the Hartford College for Women Entrepreneur Program, 1992. She Is survived by two brothers, Keith Price of Windsor, and H. Winston Price, Manchester; her sister, Crystal Price of New Haven; a host of aunts and uncles; other relatives of the Price and Kiser Families; and many friends.
