He was the widower of Katherine (Lipp-mann) Gebler. Born in Poland, he had lived in Ellington and Rockville for most of his life.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Ellington Historical Society, the Ellington Better Age Club, and was an avid bowler. He was also a charter member of the Rockville Fish Game Club. He leaves his sisters, Anna Jordan of Rockville and Minnie Schilling of Haledon, NJ and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, (July 1), 11 a.m. at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Rockville, with the Rev.

Keith W. Klein, 74, of Simsbury, beloved husband or Mary (Selfridge) Klein, died Friday (June 26, 1998) at the McLean Home in Simsbury. Born in Stanley, KY, he had lived in Simsbury for the past 37 years. Keith was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp.

during World War II and was employed as an engineer for 40 years at General Electric before his retirement. He was a member of the Elfun Society at General Electric a member of the Simsbury Civitan Club and the Simsbury Senior Citizens. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Sandy Eastoak and two granddaughters, Anaar Eastoak-Siletz and Sahel East oak-Si letz all of Santa Rosa, CA; three sisters, Ruth Miles and Martha Peters, both of Ow-ensboro, KY, and Karen Smith of Island, KY. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, July 2, 1 p.m., at the Simsbury Cemetery, with Sean Kennedy officiating. There are no calling hours.

O'BRIEN, John Francis John Francis O'Brien, 90, beloved I husband of Helen Corcoran O'Brien of Hartford, and cherished father of four grown sons, died Saturday (June 27, 1998) at St. Francis HosDital after a brief illness. Born Aug.

26, 1907 in Hartford, he was the oldest son of the late Matthew and Ann (McKeough) O'Brien. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth; and two brothers, Edward and Matthew. He graduated from Hartford Public High School and studied law and business at the Hi II-yer College and the Hartford College of Law in Hartford. In his youth, he worked locally at several insurance and manufacturing firms. He was an active member of the Governor's Horse Guard in the 1930's.

In 1938 he received the top score from amongst nearly one thousand candidates on the first competitive examination for the Connecticut State Police and went on to become the top graduate in the first merit class of state troopers. He served with pride and distinction for over four decades as a state trooper holding several command positions and retiring in 1978 as a Major. His legacy of integrity and professionalism remains strong in the state police department he served so well. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen Corcoran O'Brien of Hartford; and four sons, Attorney John F. O'Brien of Andover, Mark E.

O'Brien of Hartford, David A. O'Brien of Bloomfield, Gregory J. O'Brien of Harwinton; three loving daughters-in-law, three adoring grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and close family friends. His love, wit and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may call at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

POWELL, Conrad Marc Sr. Conrad Marc Powell 80, formerly of Glastonbury, died of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), at his home in Tor-rington. He was the husband of Edna (Juneau) Powell for 55 years. Marc was born Nov. 3, 1917 in East Hartford to the late Edward W.

and Edna Wiggins Powell. In 1943, he left his job at Pratt Whitney to enlist in the Army Air Corps, where he served for two years. Following his discharge from the service, he settled in Glastonbury and began a 34 year career as product designer at the Arrow-Hart Hegeman Electric Co. in Hartford, retiring in 1979. Marc was a quiet family man and the father of three children, C.

Mark Powell and wife, Debra of Cohasset MA, David E. Powell and wife, Nancy of Columbus, OH and Randy K. Day and her husband, Russell of Goshen. Grandchildren include Matt and Brad Powell, Christopher, Andrew and Sarah Day; and two step grandsons, John and Heath Heinz. Marc is also survived by a brother, Howard W.

Powell of Jesup, GA. He was predeceased by his sister, Gloria Wells and another brother, Lee R. Powell. A funeral service will be Thursday, July 2, 11 a.m. in the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, followed by burial in Green Cemetery.

Mrs. Laura (Pedrick) Judge, 54, of Largo, FL, formerly of Manchester, died in her residence Saturday (June 27, 1998).

She was born in Lancaster, PA. and moved to Florida in 1985 from Manchester. She was a graduate of Dennison Ohio University. She was a data processing manager for the Travelers Insurance Company Group Health department. She is survived by her husband Leo tier parents, William and Evelyn Pedrick, Seminole, FL and a sister, Jane Pedrick, Menlo Park, CA.

KARPINSKI, John John Karpinski, 79, of East Mar-brissa Way, Kissimmee, FL, formerly of Suffield, died Saturday (June 27, 1998), at Osceola Regional Hospital, Kissimmee, FL. Born in Suffield, son of the late Bruno and Edna (Popowski) Karpinski, he lived in Suffield many years, moving to Florida 30 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had been employed as an executive with file Oil of Olay Company until his retirement.

He was secretarytreasurer of the Polish American Veterans of Florida and member of AMVETS Post No. 46. He trained race horses all over the East Coast for many years. He leaves four sisters, Helen Lenard and Mary Wal-drop, both of Hartford, Edna Zarella of Southington and Stephanie Mac-Donald of Waterford; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, Sa-bina and Vincent Miller and William and Mary Murphy, all of Kissimmee, FL. The funeral will be Thursday (July 2), 10:30 a.m., at the Carmon Po-quonock Funeral Home, 1816 Po-quonock Avenue, Poquonock section of Windsor.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock, with military honors. His family will receive friends Wednesday, 6-9 p.m., at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral home. Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. LYONS, Richard J.

Popek, 80, of McDonald Road, Colchester, died on Sunday (June 28, 1998) at the Liberty Hall Nursing Home in Colchester. He was born on Feb. 12, 1918 in Colchester, the son of the late Martin and Anna Zmuda Popek. He attended Bacon Academy and then Middletown State Trade School to study Tool and Die making. After graduation, he worked for, first New Britain Machine then he worked for Pratt Whitney, Electric Boat New London Precision and Westbrook Welding.

After West-brook Welding he opened a Tool and Die business in New London, called Sullivan and Popek Machine Company. He left his machine shop in New London and went to work for Ar-wood Corporation in Groton for 25 years, retiring in 1984. Michael spent his life serving the community. A veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy, where he received the American Theatre Medal, victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, and was discharged from the service in April of 1946, attaining the rank of Seaman First Class.

During the war he was stationed in Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the V.F.W. Adler Boluck Post No. 6990 of Colchester, where he was Past Post Commander and Past Senior Vice Commander, and had carried the V.F.W. Flag in the annual Memorial Day Parade for the last 32 years.

He was a member of Saint Andrew's Parish, where he had been an active member all his life. As a child, he was an alter boy, the first President of the Holy Name Society and money collector for 40 plus years. He had also been active in Town Politics, served as the agent of Town Deposit Funds, and was a longtime member of The Democratic Town Committee, where he was Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Colchester Lions Club and a certified NRA Safety Gun instructor for many years. He loved children and was involved in little League, was a scoutmaster of Troop 13 72 for the Boy Scouts for 18 years.

He received the prestigious Silver Beaver Medal from the Boy Scouts of America for his work as scout master. He was Chairman of the Lions Club Boys Girls Recreational Activities Committee for 10 years and served on the Colchester Board of Education for 40 years. He had been actively involved in Colchester Fish Game Club of which he was past President a Past Conservation Officer for many years, and taught the Connecticut ConservationFirearms Safety Course. Member of St. Joseph Polish Club for 40 years.

He was married to Emily Ruszala on August 23, 1941 at Saint Andrew Church. She died on March 15, 1987. Surviving are two sons, Michael Popek of Colchester, Donald Popek of Rocky Hill; a daughter, Kathleen Sto-dolski of Colchester; two sisters, Phi-lis? Sefchik of Colchester and Jennie Snarski of Salem; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Jack, Frank and John Popek. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 1, 1998, 9 a.m., at the Belmont Funeral Home, 144 South Main Colchester, followed by a 10 a.m.

Calling hours will be today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. George W. Frederick, 76, of Glen New Britain, died Sunday (June 28, 1998) while vaca tioning in Nassau. Bahamas.

He was the widower of Barbara (Suess) Frederick, who died in 1975. A native and lifelong New Britain resident he was son of the late George E. and Helen (Lynch) Frederick. A World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran, he owned and operated Frederick's Ga-, rage with his brothers, Ted and Lau-' rie for over 45 years until his retirement in 1 986.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, New Britain; Elk's Lodge No. 957; Donau Club; and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group at the New Britain YMCA. Surviving is his son, Dr. William Frederick and his wife, Maryann of Cheshire; two daughters, Atty.

Patricia Modze-lewski and her husband, Jessie of New London; and Christine Lashenka of New Britain; three brothers, Theodore J. Frederick and Laurence N. Frederick, both of New Britain and Thomas J. Frederick of Kensington; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Frederick.

Funeral services are Friday (July 3), 9:45 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Walter Attorney Walter L. Galuszka, 80, Dauphin Island, AL formerly of Farmington and Hartford, died Friday (June 26, 1998) at his home in Alabama. Born in Manchester on Nov. 6, 1917, son of the late Jacob and Rose (Wodecki) Galuszka, he had lived in Hartford and Farmington before moving to Alabama in Walter attended SS. Cyril and Methodius School and graduated from Bui-keley High School where he played Varsity Football and also played football, basketball, and track at St.

John's Prepatory School in Danvers, MA. He received his BA from Union College in Schenectady, NY, and his Doctor of Laws Degree from Catholic University, School of Law, Washington DC. Walter attended the Northwestern University School of Law for prosecuting attorneys. He was president of the Newman Club at Union College and a honor student at Union College and at Catholic University School of Law. He was inducted in to the U.S.

Army in 1942, and commissioned a 2nd Lt. and served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He later served for five years in the U.S. Army Reserve Corp. He engaged in the general practice of Law being admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1952, the United States District Court in 1953 and the Supreme Courts of United States in 1971 He was a police and traffic court prosecutor in the City of Hartford, from 1955 to 1958 and practiced general law at his office in West Hartford until his retirement.

He was a member of the Hartford County Bar Assoc. He was an active Civic Leader and a member of the VFW Post 254, Hartford, Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 51, Hartford, Knights of Columbus Council 1 1, a former member of the Polish National Home of Hartford and a former Vice President of the Polish American Congress of Connecticut. He was communicant of SS. Cyril Methodius Church, Hartford, and a past president of the SS. Cyril Methodius Men's Club.

For all his contributions and activities in the Polish Community he was awarded the Po-lonia Distinguished Service Award in 1992 by the United Polish Societies of Hartford. He leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Galuszka Jr. and his wife Martha Jeffrey-Ga-luszka of West Hartford, Paul J. and Kathleen Galuszka of New Orleans, LA, Peter F. and his wife Sekiko Garrison of Seatle, WA; two daugthers and a son-in-law, Theresa A.

and Thomas Prangley of Westport, and Mary Ann R. Garrison; five grandchildren, Paul Garrett Galuszka, Andrew Garrison, Christina Garrison, Carolyn Prangley and William Prangley. He also leaves a brother, John Galuszka of Berlin, NH and a sister, Nell Weglarz of Hyannis, MA. Carrow, died Monday (June 29, 1998) at Rockville General Hospital. Born in Northfield, MA she had lived in Vernon for many years.

Stella was formerly employed at the Woolen Mills of Takottville for forty five years and later worked for FINAST. She was a member of AFMA Country Music and the Hartford Full Gospel Church. Besides her husband Stella is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Judy Weston of Gainesville, FL; her daughters, Line Russo of Miami, FL and Coline Kelly of Tampa Bay, FL; four grandchildren, Mark and Julie Weston, Arthur and his wife Donna Kelly and Christopher Kelly; two great grandchildren and three brothers, Joe Gmyrek of Miami, FL, Paul Gmyrek of Greenfield, MA, and Melvin Gmyrek of Greenfield, MA. She was also predeceased by her brothers, John and Alfred Gmyrek; and her sister, Nellie Zabrelski. Funeral service will be Thursday (July 2), 10 a.m.

Aaron J. Dornan, 18, of Wethers field, loving son of Alan and Carmen (Romano) Dornan of Wethersfield, died Saturday (June 27, 1998). Born in Manches ter, he lived all of his life in Wethers field. On June 15, 1998, Aaron graduated from Watkinson School as an outstanding student in Mathematics and Science, receiving the Worthen Memorial Mathematics Award and the Henry A. Gleason III Science Award.

Aaron played varsity tennis at Watkinson and was an avid bowler. He was a 4th degree black belt as a student of Master Sang Kim at the Tae Kwon Do Academy in Wethersfield, where he studied since the age of five. For the second year in a row, Aaron attended the American Youth Foundation International Leadership Conference at Merrowvista in Ossi-pee, NH. With a love for math, Aaron was accepted and planning to attend Worchester Polytechnic Institute in the fall. He served as a Lector at St.

Mary's Church, Newington. He was a longtime member of the Youth Ministry at the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield, where he served as a Peer Minister under the supervision of Pastoral Minister Noranne Wames-ter. Most recently he was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Rocky Hill. Besides his parents, he leaves his aunts and uncles, Maryann and Ronald Dronseiko of Woburn, MA, Paul and Dolores Dornan of Bil-lerica, MA, Annamaria Martino of Hartford, and Richard Dornan of Brookline, MA; a great aunt, Kather-ine Pizzoferrato of Newington; great uncle, Michael Miano of Wethersfield; his adopted grandmothers, Theresa Bernard of Wethersfield, and Stella Perotti of Bloomfield; and numerous cousins.

In addition to being a foster big brother to over 50 children, Aaron will be missed by the children his mother provided daycare for, especially Jeffrey Amato, Kim Taute, Daniel, Erin and Brenna Verre, and Sam and Laura Morrison, George Stevens, Christopher Candee and Matthew Cusano and a host of others whom he loved. He will be greatly missed by all his teachers, classmates, friends, and all who knew him. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 9 a.m., from the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at Brooklawn, 511 Brook Rocky Hill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook Rocky Hill, 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Armentano and daughter of the late Angelo S.

Piazza Sr. died at Hartford Hospital Saturday (June 27, 1998). She was born in Hartford and lived in Wethersfield the past 15 years. Carol was a former employee of the Department of Motor Vehicles in Wethersfield and a communicant of St. James Church in Rocky Hill.

Besides her husband, Carol leaves her mother, Mary D'Angelo Piazza of Hartford, two sons, Ronnie N. Foley and Michael A. Armentano both of Wethersfield, two step-sons, Peter C. Armentano and his wife Sherrie and Paul A. Armentano both of Vernon.

She also leaves a daughter, Lisa M. Armentano of Wethersfield, three brothers, Angelo S. Piazza Jr, Robert L. Piazza and Anthony Piazza, all of Hartford, a sister Jo-Ann Canevari of East Hartford and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Thomas Piazza.

The funeral will be Wednesday, 8:15 a.m. from the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. (Rt 160) Rocky Hill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church in Rocky Hill at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill.

He was the widower of Ann (Scholl) Banahan. Born in Pomfret, he was a Newington resident for the past 30 years and was an active member and Trustee of the Church of the Holy Spirit, where he also served as lector and was a Eucharistic Minister.

He was a member of the Parish Council for many years and was Chairman of the Education Committee. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Willi-mantic State Teachers College, his Master's Degree in Education-Administration and his Ed.D., in Supervision and Curriculum Development from Columbia University. His life was dedicated to teaching, first in Fairfield as a teacher, assistant supervising principal and elementary school principal. He was an Associate Professor of Education at the University of Bridgeport, director of elementary education in Shaker Heights, OH, and a lecturer at Western Reserve University. Tom was Superintendent of Schools in Norwich and retired as Associate Professor of Education and Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies at CCSU in New Britain.

He was member of various professional associations including, NEA, CEA, AASA, ASCD, the Yale-Fairfield Study of Elementary Teaching, the Experimental Program in Work Study Skill and Independent Study, ASCD Commission on Supervision Theory, Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (Legislative Committee and official spokesman for the Association on all fiscal bills before the 1967 legislative session), the Curriculum Committee and the Graduate Council, both at CCSU. He authored several publications and was a member of the Newington Republican Campaign Committee and was a special respre-sentative to the Sanitation Committee of the Town Council. He was a member of the PACE Committee for the Improvement of Cleveland Public Schools, and the Board of Directors, Otis Library, Norwich. He was a corporator of the Norwich Savings Society and was chairman of the Rotary Club Boy's Christmas Fund. He was a U.S.

Army veteran of World War II. Tom was survived by several nieces and nephews and two great nephews. He also leaves his devoted friends, Jim and Mary Ann Fitzgerald and their children, Ryan Thomas, Kevin Bannon, and Molly Rose Fftzger-ald, all of East Hampton. Funeral services will be Thursday (July 2), 9:15 a.m., from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit.

Adinolfi, 53, of Benedict. Drive, North Haven, died suddenly Saturday (June 27, 1998) at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Karin Orzechowski Adinolfi of North Haven. He was born in New Haven, March 11,1 945, son of John S. and Charlotte S.

Spezzano Aldinolfi of North Havenand had lived there all of his life. He received a B.A. in education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1967 and later his Master's Degree and 6th year degree in Special Education. He taught in the North Haven school system in Mill Road and Center Street Schools. He later was employed with the Builders from 1976 to 1988 and was most recently self-employed with Northwood Construction Landscaping Company.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Adele M. Adinolfi of Grundy, VA; a son, Jon Michael Adinolfi of North Haven; two sisters, Mary Provini of North Haven and Susan Reid of Cheshire and three brothers, Gerald Adinolfi of North Branford, Paul Adinolfi of North Haven and Justin Adinolfi of Cheshire. He was born Dec. 8, 1912, in Greenwich, son of the late Frank and Mary (Greco) Branca. He was Tax Collector for the Town of Greenwich for 24 years. He was formerly employed at Yale Towne-Stamford. He was a former President and current Treasurer Secretary of the St.

Lawerence Club. He was the only Treasurer of the Greenwich Old Timers and one of its' Charter Members. He was an usher at St. Catherine Church. James was also a member of the Greenwich Senior Citizens, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Cos Cob-Mianus Dugout, Hill House, Augustine Home, Chairman-Greenwich Housing Authority.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. James is survived by his two sisters, Rose Bevivino and Florence Orrico, both of Cos Cob; six nieces nephews; 16 grandnieces and grand-nephews; and four great grandnieces and great grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Branca. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the Castiglio-ne Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Greenwich, then proceeding to St.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. DAGATA, Mark R. Mark R. Dagata, 38, of Vine Street, New Britain, died Sunday (June 28, 1998) at New Britain General Hospital. Mark was born in New Britain and was the son of Noreen (Ross) and the late Henry R.

Dagata. Mark worked at the School One Apartments, New Britain, for several years. Mark was a member of St. Maurice R.C. Church and the Italian Fraternal Society, both in New Britain.

In addition to his mother, Noreen, Mark survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Jim Frauenheim of Southington; a niece, Kristen; two nephews, Michael and Steven; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who he was very close to. Funeral services will be Thursday, 9 a.m., from the Paul A. ShakerFarmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington New Britain, followed by a liturgy of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Maurice R.C.
