THE HARTFORD DAILY COURANT: SATURDAY, JANUARY 22, truth continually preserve me." Unitarian Speaker Society and Clubs Three Ordained To Diaconate At Cathedral Service Theological Study Noted By Churches Episcopalians List Special Services; Professor Spinka to Preach January 23 has been designated I 'LV Hi vt "fry! I "4 1 'VI i Al ''iV -a 4 New Controls For Life By REV. KENNETH A. GREENE Pastor of thet Methodist Church of Wethersfield "Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets; I am come not to destroy, but to fulfill." Matthew 5:17. One characteristic mark of adult living at its best is the ability to make satisfactory adjustments to the changes of life. It is now evident that we in America are in the midst of the greatest movement of people in our history.

Men and women by the thousands are pouring into our armed forces. Those of us at home face new responsibilities. With this movement come new modes of living. Time schedules are rearranged and life is under new stresses and strains. Many of us face new temptations that surely call for new controls on life.

The natural tendency of human nature is to relax moral codes in time of change. Life is stepped up to the point where the "Tomorrow we die" attitude grips many young people. Irregular living awakens new appetites of body and spirit. The usual social controls fade into the background. Jesus in His teaching was very emphatic about the necessity of keeping the strict moral code.

It seemed to those who hsard Him that He proposed new adjustments to life. Our text is His answer, "I am corqe not to destroy, but to fulfill." Jesus taught that we must guard against the mere thought of lowering our standards of conduct. To Jesus, right conduct is obeying the moral law of faith plus obeying the will of God for our individual lives. I I YY ,1 REV. FRANK E.
