Powers WETHERSFIELD Murray Aspinall MURTHA. Nina (Muncey) Murtha (Hodgkinson), 61, of 7 Oak Ivoryton, died Friday (March 13,, 1992), at St. Raphael Hospital after a long illness. She was born May 3, 1930 in Maldin, daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor (Salvi) Muncey. She lived formerly In Essex, residing in Ivoryton for the last three years.

She leaves two daughters, Bettina Baldi of Essex and Llssa Wilson of Ivoryton; two brothers, John Muncey of Cohas- set, Mass. and Peter Muncey of Hanover, five grandchildren, Tawnya, Baldl of Meriden, Abraham, Barbra, Juanita and John Wilson, ail of Ivoryton. Funeral procession will leave the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook on Monday, 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John's R.C.

Chi Yuk Ng, 71, of 6A Farmington Chase, Farmington, husband of Mrs. Chen Ylng (Chao) Ng, died Saturday (March 14, 1992), at the McLean Home in Simsbury. Besides his wife, Mr. Ng is survived by two sons, Mr. Gary Mankwong Ng of Farming-ton and Mr.

Peter Manyiu Ng of London, England; one sister, Merry Chen in New Jersey; and three grandchildren. Friends may call at the Ahem Funeral Home, 111 Main Unionville, Monday, 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Ahem Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul K.

Wong, Pastor of the Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford, officiating. PETERSON. Joseph Francis Peterson, 68, a resident of the Holy Apostles Seminary In Cromwell, formerly of Hillsdale, NY, died Thursday (March 12), at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass. Mr. Peterson was born in May 21, 1923 In Yonkers, N.Y., the son of the late Joseph and Julia (Clancy) Peterson.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Force with the rank of Sergeant during World War II in France. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. While residing In Yonkers, he was employed as a letter carrier by the US Postal Service and later by the City of Yonkers Recreation Department until his retirement in 19781. It was during World War II that he met Padre Pio.

Padre Pio was a Franciscan priests who had the stigmata, marks resembling the wounds of the crucified body of Christ. Mrs. Petersons visited Padre Pio regularly thereafter. His goal was the canonization of Padre Pio into sainthood. Mr.

Peterson lectured about Padre Pio throughout the northeast for the past 40 years to an estimated group of over 4,000 parishes, religious education classes and Catholic high schools. He joined the Padre Pio Foundation of America, Cromwell, in 1987. He was a member of the Founda-tions's Board of Directors and was an enthusiastic supporter of Holy GACEK. Ann M. Gacek, 65, of Mountlake Terrace, Washington, formerly a 30 year resident of East Hartford, died Friday (March 13, 1992), at her home.

She leaves her husband, Edward; one daughter, Kathy Bednarski of Springfield, one son, Edward M. Gacek of Mountlake Terrace; two brothers, Stanley Romak of Carteret, N.J. and Leo Romak of East Hartford; one sister, Bernice Haopian of Huntington, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her unselfish caring for others. Funeral service will be Monday, 12 Noon, at St.

Pius Catholic Church, Mountlake Terrace, Washington, with interment in Holyrood Cemetery, Seattle. Beck's Funeral Home, Edmonds, Wash, has charge of arrangements. Garlasco, 88, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away Jan. 24, 1992, in Hollywood, Fla. Born in Fubine, Italy, she was a longtime resident of East Hartford, and retired from Aetna Life Insurance before moving to Florida. She was a charter member of the Daughter's of Isabella, Father Dremman Circle No. 571, and a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Garlasco was the wife of the late Victor Garlasco. She Is survived by two daughters, Janet Bocskal of Ira-mar, and Doris Umberger of Clinton, N.J.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Elvira McKenna of Glastonbury; and her nephew. Dr.

Mrs. Geneva "Janet" (LaSalle) Donnelly Guerrette, 78, of Vergennes, formerly of West Hartford, died Friday (March 6) in Vergennes, Vt. She is survived by her husband, Louis B. Guerrette of Vergennes, a son, Benjamin f'Chuck" Donnelly of North Fer-risburgh, three stepdaughters, Marianne Forgues, Dianne Croxford, and Lorraine Cromack, all of Connecticut; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Willie Farris "Poochie" Huff, 38, of Hartford, beloved son of Annie (Tiggett) Huff and the late Willie Farris Huff, departed this life on Wednesday (March 11, 1992) at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of the Hartford area. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1972, and had worked as a supervisor for the city of Hartford, Department of Public Works.

He is survived by two sons, Kareem Gadson of Hartford, Willie F. Huff, ill of East Hartford; a daughter. La Shawn Gadson of Virginia; a step-son, Maurice McFarland of East Hartford; two sisters, Sharon and Julie Huff; two brothers, Calvin and Jeffrey Huff of Hartford; a devoted friend, Bo-nita McFarland of East Hartford; and a host of relatives and friends in Hartford and Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral service will be Monday, March 16, 1992, 1 p.m., at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 12 Battle Hartford. Calling hours Monday, March 16, 1992, 12 noon at the Mary A.

Johnson, of West Hartford, died Thursday (March 12. 1992). Miss Johnson was born in New York State, and lived in Brushton, N.Y., before coming to Hartford. Miss Johnson graduated from Bulkeley High School, and State Normal School at New Britain She did her graduate work at Boston University, the University of Michigan and the University of Indiana. In 1934, shebegan her 57 year career as an educator in the Hartford School System.

She taught at Hooker HealthSchool, and the Washington Street School. From -1942-67, she taught evening naturalization classes to foreign born students. In 1946-47, she was chosen by a British educational group to participate in a teacher exchange program and she taught in Newcastle on Tyne, England. In 1947, Miss Johnson became a coordinator at the Hartford Board of Education in the Home Instruction Department, now the Alternative Education Centers. Through hr work at the Board of Education, she initiatied services for teenage parents, provided tutors for youngsters at the Juvenile Court Detention Center, and helped establish classes at the Institute of Living.

She also had a network of programs throughout the City of Hartford to help children in a non-traditional setting. Miss Johnson was devoted to helping the physically challenged. She was a forerunner in the establishment of the Cerebral Palsy Association and was instrumental in the founding of Harkness Memorial Camp. Mary Johnson was the daughter of William Johnson and Margaret (Curley) Johnson. She will be dearly missed by her brother, Robert F.

Johnson of Wethersfield; her sister, Kathleen J. Gos-tyla of Bloomfield; her sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, James R. Johnson, Arthur J. Johnson, John E.

Johnson, Donald W. Johnson, Vincent T. Johnson and her sister, Florence C. McCann, Mary's spirit of giving and generosity are well know to many whose lives were touched by her secret kindnesses. MADIGAN.

John H. Madigan 67, of 4B St. Regis East Hartford, died Thursday, (March 12, 1992), in Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford, son of the late John H. and Ida (Norberg) Madigan, and lived in East Hartford for the past 20 years.

He was employed by Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks; for 21 years, before he was employed as a Quality Engineer for Hughes Aircraft, California, where he retired five years ago after 14 years of service. He was presently employed by Aetna Insurance Hartford, for five years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. He leaves his wife, Doris (De-Luco) Madigan of East Hartford; a son and daughter-in-law, John H.

Ill and Nancy Madigan of West Hartford; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Ernest Bourdeau of Suffield; and two grandsons, Jason Bourdeau, and Timothy Bourdeau. Funeral service will be Monday, 8:15 a.m., from the Callahan Funeral Home, 1602 Main East Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. Memorial donations may be made to the Hartford Hospital Cardiac Unit, 80 Seymour Hartford 06108. MOHN. Marjorie E. Mohn, 77, of Spring Village, East Windsor, died Friday (March 13, 1992). She was a lifelonq resident of East Windsor.

She was a graduate of Enfield High School Class of 1932, and the Morse Business School. Before her retirement 15 years ago, she was employed by the Conn. State Tax Department. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Order of Eastern Star, No.

63. For many years, she had knitted slipper socks for the patients at the three Connecticut Veteran's Hospitals, and was proud of a service pin awarded for her volunteer work by Barry-Poulter Unit No. 40, American Legion Auxiliary, East Windsor. She was the daughter of the late George and Cora Mohn and was predeceased by a sister, Esther M. Bond.

She is survived by her cousins, Harry Mohn, Harriett Mohn Muska, and David Muska, all of Windsor Locks; and Susan Muska in New York City. Funeral service will be Monday, 11 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the J.M.

Moore, 71, of Elmwood, West Hartford, husband of Helen (Con-del) Moore, died Friday (March 13, 1992), at his home. Born in Hartford, he had lived in the West Hartford area for 30 years. He was employed as a Supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service, Hartford office, for 30 years, retiring in 1973. He was a World War II Army Veteran, and a member of the American Legion, West Hartford.

He was a member of St. Brigid Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Michael F. Moore of East Hartford and Dennis M. Moore of West Hartford; a daughter, Mrs.

Jane Donovan of Manchester; four grandchildren; three nephews and one niece. Funeral will be Tuesday, 9:15 a.m., from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 at the Church of St. Brigid, West Hartford. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Pasqualina Pertusi and had lived In Windsor Locks most of her life. She had been employed at the C. H. Dexter Co. for many years before her retirement 18 years ago.

She is survived by two nephews and many loving friends. Funeral service will be Tuesday, 8:30 a.m., from the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Windsor Locks, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.. In St. Mary Church. Burial will be In St.

Adams, 81, of Hazard Avenue, Enfield, died Sat- urday (March 14), at Johnson Me-morial Hospital. Born in Suffield, he lived in the Suffield-Enfieid area all his life. He leaves two sons, Date Adams of West Suffield and David Adams of Granville, four daughters, Judy Levakus of Hampden, Karen Pajak of Chicopee, Jennise Adams and Darla Tkacz, both of West Suffield; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Lucy Mae Anderson, 58, wife of Jacob Anderson, of 63 Community Plainfield, died suddenly, Thursday (March 12), in Baton Rouge, La. She was born in Quincy, daughter of Harry and Classie Mae Green.

She was an employee of Wescott Care Cen- ter, Danielson, as head of the Dl-m etary Dept. for 17 years. She was a devoted member of Faith Seventh Day Ad ventist Church, for 35 year, serving as Deaconess, Usher and Senior Choir Member. She leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 43 years; four sons, and two daugh- ters-in-law, Jacob Almus of Wind-; sor, Pastor Gilbert E. and Nettie, of Hagerstown, Robert Lee and Terry, and Michael Wayne, both of Plainfield; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sylvia and Woodrow Wilson of Huntsville, 1 Julie Dell of Putnam, Mario-lt nette and Fred Owens of Plain- field and Linda Rozina of Baton Rouge, four sisters, Thelma Hicks, Lillian Lawrence, Clara Dixon and Willie Mae Grice; two brothers, Harry and Richard Green; 14 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, including Cora Flowers, Lena and Danny Rose.

Murray Aspinall of Wethersfield, died Friday (March 13, 1992), at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Lowell, Mass. He was a retired Lt. having been a career soldier, serving in the United States Army for 40 years. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was a mem-. ber of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Wethersfield. He is sur-' vived by his wife, Viola (Zannlni) Mele Aspinall; one daughter, Phyllis Petrolito of Lawrence, two granddaughters, Bren-da Marchese and Patricia Petro-lito-Beaulieu, both of East Hartford; and one great-granddaughter, Lisa Marie Beaulieu of East Hartford. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Fred and Cora Atkins, and was a resident of Hartford all of his life. He is survived by three sons, Randall, Dana and Arnold Atkins, all of Bloomfield; three daughters, Theresa McKin-ney and Carla Atkins, both of Windsor, and Carolyn Atkins-Colbert of East Hartford; two sisters, Ruth DeLawrence and Delores Simmons, both of Hartford; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; and friends.

He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth L. Atkins; his brother, Joseph Atkins; and his sister, Marlene Hathaway. Co. of Hartford for many years. Mrs. Caya is survived by her daughter, Joyce C. Benoit of East Hartford; a brother, Alphonse DuHamel of Phoenix, two aunts, Mrs.

Daniel O'Brien and Mrs. Luke Reynolds, both of West Hartford; a devoted friend, Lefty Lenz of Hartford; three grandchildren; four great-grasndchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be Monday, 9:15 a.m., from the Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Sisson Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10a.m., at LaSalette Chapel, 85 New Park Hartford. Friends may call at the funeral home, this evening, 7-9 p.m. CHALIFOUX. Joseph W. Chalifoux 74, of 12 Greenwood Windsor Locks, died Friday (March 13, 1992). Born In Willimantic, he had lived in Windsor Locks since 1956.

He had been employed at the Hlg- Sins Co. of Hartford for 25 years efore his retirement in 1971. An Army Veteran of World War II, he was awarded a Distinguished Unit Badge and the Asiatic Campaign Medal with three bronze stars. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Marcotte) Chalifoux; three sons, Stephen Chalifoux of Brewer, John Chalifoux of Enfield and David Chalifoux of Windsor Locks; a daughter, Shirley DeGray of Windsor Locks; two brothers, Nor-mand Chalifoux of Windsor Locks and Danas Chalifoux of Punta Gorda, two sisters, Aurea Lussier of L'Ange Gardien, Canada and Sonora Landry of L'As-somption, Canada; four grandchildren, Jessica and Earl DeGray of Windsor Locks, and Nicole and Shane Chalifoux of Enfield. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Chalifoux.

Beatrice (Burbank) Farnham, 84, widow of Emerson Farnham, died Saturday (March 7) at Hartford Hospital. Born In Hazardville, she lived in Puerto Rico for 32 years, retired to Vermont, and moved to West Hartford 20 years ago. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for the Federal Government In Puerto Rico during World War II. She was employed by the YMCA, West Hartford. She was a member of the Elmwood Community Center.

Mrs. Farnham leaves a sister, Ida Burbank of West Hartford; three granddaughters, Jeld Gagliardi of Farmington, Paige Miller of Anaheim Hills, and Tracy Di-Francesco of West Hartford; four great-granddaughters, Lauren, and Christine Gagliardi, both of Farmington, Jacqueline Dl-Francesco of West Hartford, and Abbe Miller of Anaheim Hills, two nieces; and a nephew. A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, March 21, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farming-ton West Hartford. Burial will be private.

The Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, West Hartford, has charge of arrangements. HENSON. Kevin J. Henson, 36, of 14 Carol Drive, Manchester, died Friday (March 13) at his home. Kevin was born in Hartford, and lived for most of his life in South Windsor and Manchester.

He was a 1973 graduate of East Catholic High School, a graduate of Catholic University, Washington, D.C., and received his Master's of Architecture from University of Michigan. He was currently associated with Centerbrook Architects, and was a member of the American Institute of Architects. He was a beloved son of Claire (Sala) Henson; brother of Thomas M. Henson Jr. of Coventry, Kathleen H.

Rook of Ashford, and Ktm M. Henson of Manchester; also survived by his father, Thomas M. Henson of Silvas, several aunts and uncles. Including Lorraine and Albert Fournier of East Hartford, and Jean and Matthew Robinson of Wilton; a niece, Jean-net te Luce; and several cousins. Funeral service will be Monday, 9:30 a.m., from the John F.

She was a former teacher at Northwest Jones School In Hartford, for over 30 years, and was a former religious school teacher for many years at the Emanuel Synagogue. Ruth E. (Bostrom) Bergeson, 94, of William Street, Portland, widow of Edward B. Bergeson, died Sunday (March 8), at her home. She was born in Portland on Dec. 4, 1897, daughter of the late Hjalmar and Hilma (Pet-tersson) Bostrom, and was a lifelong resident of Portland.

She graduated from the Middletown Business College, and for 17 years, she was employed as a secretary for the Strong and Hale Lumber Co. of Portland. She was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Portland and at one time, served as Organist and Choir Director. She was active in the women's organizations within the church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Sarah B. Weeks of West Hartford and Sylvia B. Marsh of Branford; one sister, Mildred Lincoln of Glastonbury; three grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandsons; two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by two brothers, The Rev. Carl O.

Lucius John Cook, 50, of husband of Marjorie (Henry) Cook, of Cook's Orchard, Haynes Hill Road, Brimfield, died Saturday (March 14), in his home. He was born in Tolland, Nov.

23, 1941, son of the late George E. and Mabel F. (Luhrsen) Cook. Lucius graduated from Rockville High School in 1959, and the University of Connecticut in 1963. He received a Masters of Education from the University of Hartford.

He taught English at the Monson, Bay Path, and North Brookffeid High School, and with his family established a well known fruit farm. Lucius was a teacher, a farmer and a family man. He touched many people with his kindness, his humor and his wisdom. He entertained us with folk guitar and a strong, sweet voice. He was a man who tried to live simply and to be joyous.

His love and concern for others went beyond thought of himself. His family, friends, coworkers and students, mourn the loss of a truly good man. Besides his wife, Lucius leaves a daughter, Lisa Cook Lamothe and her husband, James a daughter, Lucinda M. Cook; sons, David J. and Simeon G.

POWERS. Frank N. Powers, 71, of West Hartford, husband of Helena (Doherty) Powers, died Saturday (March 14). at a local con valescent home. Born In Hartford, he lived in the Elmwood section of West Hartford since 1955.

He retired after 39 years of service with Conrail where he was a very active in railroad union affairs with the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks and as a lobbyist for the union at the State Capitol, Hartford. Active in West Hartford policies for over 20 years, he was the former chairman of the 6th District Democrats having received the title of "South End Democrat of the Year" in 1988 from the West Hartford Democrats for Good Government. He also represented the district as a delegate to numerous conventions and served on various town and state legislative committees. Most instrumental in gaining $3.7 million State funding for both Southbury and Mansfield Training Schools, he was appointed a member to the Council on Mental Retardation in 1985 having to serve at the pleasure of Governors Meskill, Grass and O'Neill. In appreciation of his efforts, the Mansfield Parent's Association had honored him as "Ma of the A World War 1 1 U.S.

Army veteran with the 83rd Division he wwas captured in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge and received the purple heart with two oak leaf clusters. A life member of both the Hannon-Hatch Post 9929, V.F.W., West Hartford and the D.A.V., he was also a member of the Hayes-Vel-hage American Legion Post 96, West Hartford.
