Julius Apter, 93, of 2600 Diana Drive, Hallandale, died March 19, 1991. He had lived in the Hartford area youth until his retirement from law prachis tice in 1972, when he relocated to Florida. He attended grade school in Hartford, graduated from Hartford Public High School, and obtained his law degree from New York University.

In 1925 formed a partnership, with the late Milton Nahum, in the practice of law in Hartford known as Apter Na-. hum. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Rosenblatt) Apter; his son and daughter Michael and Apter of 1651 S.W. 53rd Plantation and three grandchildren, Andrea Apter, Scott Peter Apter, and Tanya Michele Apter. Burial will be in Davie, Fla.

COHEN. David B. Cohen, a Derby lawyer for 55 years, died Tuesday night (March 19) in Boca Raton, Fla. A resident of 181B Apache Lane, Stratford, Atty. Cohen was born in Derby on April 18, 1913, the son of the late Meyer and Jennie Cohen, and lived in Derby all of his life, until moving to Stratford several years ago.

He was a graduate of Derby High School, Class of 1929, the University of Pittsburgh, and University Law School, and admitted to the Connecticut Bar and entered practice of law in Derby in 1936, founded the law firm originally known as Cohen, Finn Sylvester, now known as Cohen, Micci, Thomas and Stamos, 1958. He was a clerk of the Connecticut State Senate, 1941-42. He entered the U.S. Army as a Private in 1942; served in the European Theater of Operations with the First Army, received five Battle Stars and was awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal by the Republic of France; discharged as a Captain in He was a Corporation Counsel of the City of Derby (1948-54), judge of the City Court of Derby for six years, Chief Prosecuting Attorney of the former Fifth Circuit Court, Ansonia (1960- 71). He was past president of Valley Bar a member of the Committee on Professional Ethics for the State of Connecticut Bar Assn.

for 32 years, a founder of the Cochran Psychiatric Clinic at Griffin Hospital in 1957, a member of the Board of Trustees at Griffin Hospital for 22 years, and was the President of the Hospital in 1978- 79, a member of the Board of Directors of the Naugatuck Valley Mental Health Council, and a past president of the Visiting Nurses Assn. of the Valley. He was presented with the Gold Seal Award for his service to the community by the Valley Chamber of Commerce in 1986. After retiring from active practice, he served as a State Trial Referee for the State of Connecticut by appointment of the Chief Justice of State Supreme Court until the time of death. Atty.

Cohen is survived by his wife, Jane Cotter Cohen; two sons, Atty. James E. Cohen of Oxford, his law partner; and Andrew M. Cohen in California; and two grandsons, Matthew D. Cohen and Daniel M.

Cohen. Funeral services for Atty. Cohen will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Temple B'Nai Israel, 2710 Park Bridgeport. Atty. Cohen's family has requested that any memorial contributions in his name be made to Cohen Family Book Fund at the Derby Public Library, 313 Elizabeth Derby.

COLEMAN-KIGOZI. Tracy Coleman-Kigozi, 26, of 5412 Towne Brook Middletown, died March 15 as a result of an automobile accident in New York. She was born in Hartford, and lived in Hartford for most of her life. She was a receptionist for the Days Inn Motor Lodge. Mrs.

Kigozi is survived by her husband, Edward; a son, Kyreece Coleman; five brothers, Lemon, Winston, Anthony, Keith, all of Hartford, and Eugene of Springfield, two sisters, Beverly and Lori; and her mother, Eloise Coleman, all of Hartford; several nieces, nephews, atives, and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her father, Henry Squires. Funeral service will be Friday, March 22, 1 p.m., Welcome Baptist Church, '205 Bellevue with calling hour, beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

L.R. Lewis Funeral Home, 2016 Main Hartford, has charge of arrangements. D'AMICO. Stephen A. D'Amico, 79, of Hartford, died Wednesday (March 20) at a local convalescent home.

He was born in Springfield, and had lived in Hartford for the past 50 years. Mr. D'Amico is survived by a son, Stephen A. D'Amico; a daughter, Joan M. Reid, both of East Granby; a brother, Mario D'Amico; a sister, Ermy Basney, both of Stuart, and five grandchildren, Jeffrey M.

McDermott, Lori A. McDermott, Michael B. D'Amico, Christopher T. D'Amico, and Jason M. D'Amico.

Funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Sisson Hartford, has charge of arrangements.

DEATH NOTICES DEATH NOTICES DEATH NOTICES LOWELL. Frederick Lowell 67, of 1124 Milibrook Road, Middletown, husband of Eleanor (Grogan) Lowell, died March 20 at Middiesex Hospital. Born in Hartford, son of the late Frederick W. and Anna A. (Driscoll) Lowell, he had lived in Middletown since 1953.

Mr. Lowell was the owner of Connecticut Valley Contracting for 25 years, which went out of business in 1972, and he then worked for various other construction companies until his retirement in 1985. He was also a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 15. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Daniel Lowell of Hebron, Frederick K. Lowell of Southington, and Thomas C.

Lowell of Killingworth; a daughter, Carrie Anne Somerville of Manchester; a brother, Douglas Lowell of New Milford; a sister, Dorothy Kepler of Thousand Oaks, and nine grandchildren. Memorial service will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Middletown. Interment will be at at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. MINER. Arnold E. "Coon" Miner, 62, of 76 South Road, Ellington, died Tuesday (March 19, 1991) at Rockville General Hospital. He was born in Colrain, educated in the local schools, and moved to Ellington 40 years ago. He was a U.S.

Navy veteran of World War I1. He was a retired plumber for Gibbs Plumbing and Heating Hartford, and Burlington Plumbing and Heating Ellington. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 14, Polish-American Club, the Cisco Club, the Italian Club, the Moose Club, the American- Italian Friendship Club, all of Rockville, and the Italian Benefit Society, Stafford Springs. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.

Evangeline (Nebelski) Miner; two sons, Thomas O. Miner, both of Ellington, and Bruce A. Miner of California; a daughter, Susan A. Miner of Rockville; two stepsons, Jerry E. Ballou of North Carolina, and Arnold S.

Ballou of North Pomfret, two stepdaughters, Pauline Darling of Windsor, and Gloria Ballou of Brattleboro, 15 grandchildren; great-grandson; a brother, Philip L. Miner of Turners Falls, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Gary E. Miner, who died in 1976. Funeral service will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 E.

MINICUCCI. Frederick J. "Fritz" Minicucci, 81, of 71 Ambassador Drive, Manchester, died Tuesday (March 19) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was the husband of Anne (Cavagnaro) Minicucci.

Born in Manchester, he had lived here for most of his life. From 1946 to 1976, when he retired, he was the part owner of Cavey's Restaurant, Manchester. He was a World War II veteran, having served in both the U.S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Rockville Lodge of Elks.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia Minicucci of Lake Forest, Linda Minicucci of Vernon, and Anne Minicucci of Bristol; and two sisters, Mrs. MarBonadies, and Mrs. Mary Pasqualini, both of Manchester. Funeral service will Saturday, 8:15 a.m., from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W.

Center Manchester, followed by a a.m., at St. James Church, Manchester. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 253 E. Center Manchester 06040. OLEWNIK. Carol A. Olewnik, of Corbin New Britain, died Wednesday (March 20) at Hartford Hospital.

She was born in Hartford, daughter of Dorothy (McDermott) Olewnik and the late Lucian Olewnik. She was employed as a special education teacher for the Canton High School, for the past 13 years. She was a graduate of of of of of of of New Britain High School, Class of '62. She attended Endicott Junior College, Beverly, Mass. She was a gradvate of Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, with a BA degree in education.

She completed her masters degree in education at CCSU. She was a member PI Beta Phi sorority. At Canton High School, she was the coach for the girls J.V. Field Hockey team. She was an advisor for the Greenhouse Club.

She was active in the National Education Association, the Connecticut Education Association, and the Education Association of Canton. She was a memeber of the New Britain Republican Town Committee, and she was an Assistant Republican Registrar of Voters. She was also a memebr of St. Maurice Church. Besides her mother, she is survived by a brother, Atty.

Richard Olewnik of Pittsfield, a niece; a nephew; two aunts; and several cousins. Funeral service will be Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at the New Britain Memorial Funeral Home, 444 Farmington 10 a.m. at St. Maurice Church. Burial will be in St.

Nora (Hunt) O'Meara, of Bloomfield, wife of John F. O'Meara, died Tuesday (March 19) in Mount Sinai Hospital. She was born in Boleyboy, Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Hartford Golf Club, and the Hooker Family. Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, John F.

O'Meara of Winsted, James Peter J. O'Meara of Windsor, O'Meara of Hebron, and Thomas J. O' Meara of Wethersfield; three sisters, Delia Hopkins of Hartford, Margaret Carey of Saybrook, and Kathleen Byrnes of East Hartford; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday, 9:15 a.m., from the Farley Funeral Home, Webster Hartford, followed by a mass of Christian burial, 10 a.m., in Christ the King Church, 1153 Blue Hills Bloomfield. Munsell, 70, of 41 Breezy Hill Road, Harwinton, husband of Ida (Coe) Munsell, died Tuesday (March 19), at his home. Born Hartford, son of Madeline (Brimbie) Munsell of Harwinton and the late Frederick M. Munsell. He lived in Windsor, graduating from John Fitch High School in 1939. He lived in the area for many years, moving fo Harwinton 24 years 5 ago.

He was a World War U.S. Navy veteran, and for most of his life, he was a salesman and was sold former Sunday He was School a member teacher at the First United Methodist Church, Torrington. He was a long time member and former chaplin of Washington Lodge No. 70 A.F. A.M.

of Windsor, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Hartford and the Connecticut Consistory of Norwich, the Sphinx Temple AAONMS of Newington, and was on the public relations committee and special representative for Northwestern Connecticut for the Childrens Hospital. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves a brother, Robert E. Munsell of Dennisport, a sister, Edith M. Reynolds of North Granby; several nieces; and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, 7:30 p.m., in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Windsor with the Rev.

01104. PINTO. James C. Pinto, 50, of Hebron, died Monday (March 18) at home. He was a mechanical engineer for Pratt Whitney Division of United Technologies.

He leaves his mother, Pinto of Warren, was the beloved husband of Gloria E. (King) Pinto; three daughters, Mrs. Della Fazekas, Mrs. Gina Pinto, and Mrs. Candida Pinto, all of New Britain; two sons, Craig Chicoine of Westfield, and Anof Sedona, two sisters, Mrs.

dre D. Chicoine Jr. San Diego, a brother, Mr. Ralph Pinto 1 Carol Sears of Dearborn, and Mrs. Kathy Bogues of Attica, and two grandchildren, Emalie Fazekas, and Andre D.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he is survived by his wife, Monica (Lopez) Ramos; three sons, Hector, Eltidio, and Edwin, of Hartford; his parents, Eltidio and Carmen (Morales) Ramos of Juncos, Puerto Rico; and a brother, Edwin of New York City. Funeral service will be Friday, 8:30 a.m., at the DeLeon Funeral Home, 104 Main Hartford, with a religious service, 9 a.m., at the funeral home.

Burial: Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are today, 5-9 p.m. SANDALO. Gerard Otto Sandalo, 88, of West Hartford, widower of Helen (Carlson) Sandalo, died Wednesday (March 20) at a local convalescent home.

He was born in West Hartford, and was a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Royal Typewriter for 50 years as a Methods Engineer. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hartford. He is survived by a and John August son West Hartford; daughter and Shirley a daughter, Margaret ZachariaFarmington; and two grandchildren, Mark O. Zachariasen, and Carolyn and her husband, Charles, De Zutter.

Funeral service will be Friday, 11 a.m., in the chapel of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hartford, with the Rev. Dr. John Stadtlander officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There are no calling hours.

In. lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 311 Capitol Hartford 06106. SILVER. William C. Silver, 78, formerly of 158 Terryville Bristol, and husband of Belle (Lipman) Silver, died Wednesday (March 20) at Bristol Hospital.

Mr. Silver was born in Stamford, on July 10, 1912, and was the son of the late Jacob and Rose (Cohen) Silver. He had been a Bristol resident since 1940. He retired in 1985 as chairman Beverage the former Pepsi Bottling Co. of Bristol, begun as a family operation in 1934 by Jacob Silver and his sons.

He was president of the Connecticut Soft Drink Association, and vice president and committee member of the Northeast Division of Pepsi-Cola Bottlers Association. He was a member of the Bristol Rotary Club, Bristol Boys Club, the Bristol Boys Club Association which honored him with the 1988 Humanitarian Award, Franklin Lodge No. 56 AF AM, and Chippanee Country Club. A past president of the Beth Israel Synagogue, he also served as president of the Connecticut Zionists of America, and vice president of the National Zionists of America. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Aaron, and Paul Silver of Bristol, and Stephen Silver of Watertown; a daughter, Harriet Levin of Middletown; a brother, Louis Silver of Bristol; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday (March 22) at noon, at Beth Israel Synagogue, with Rabbi Sidney Rothstein, Israel officiating. Cemetery, Burial Bristol. A memorial period will be observed at the home Paul Silver, 32 Elaine Bristol. WASHBURN. Richard T. Washburn, of Sun City Center, died March 4 Sun City Center, Fla. He was a retired officer of Travelers Insurance, where he worked for 40 years. He was a graduate of Mount Herman, and Wesleyan University Law School.

He was a retired colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Carlson's Raiders. He leaves his wife, June (Jeffry) Washburn; two sons, Steve Robert; a daughter, Wendy; and four grandchildren. TANGUAY. Roger, Tanguay, 53, of Grenada formerly of East Hartford, husband of Nancy Tanguay, died March 19, was 1991, born in in Grenada Hill, Calif.

He Fall River, son of the latelw Rita (Patno) Tanguay, and J. Lea. in Tanguay of 71 Concord late Harfford. He was raised by his stepmother, Juliet (Benoit) Tanr guay. Besides his wife and father, to he leaves a son; two stepdaugh: la ters; and three sisters.

Angela (Romazinde Trevison, 95, of East Hartford, widow of Louis Trevison, died Wednesday (March 20, 1991) at al local convalescent home. Born in Meduna diLivenza, Province of Treviso, Italy, she lived in East Hartford for most of her life. She was a member of St. Christopher Church Ladies Guild. She is sur-4 vived by three daughters, Mary East Harden, Hartford, Laura and Paszek, Elsie both Bosco of West Hartford; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mount StEv Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours today, 7-9 p.m. DUNCAN. Helen BE (Ericson) Duncan, 101, of Salmon Brook Drive, Glastonbury, widow of Roy L. Duncan died Tuesday (March 19) at Salmon Brook Convalescent Home, Glastonbury.

in Hartford, Sept. 11, 1889, daughter of the late August and Charlotte Ericson, and was a resident of Glastonbury for eight years, having formerly lived in West Hartford for many years. She was director of Public Welfare for the Town of West Hartford, from 1936 until 1939. She was a member of the South Congregational Church, Hartford, and was a for- of the Board of Directors at Avery Heights, Hartford. She is survived son, Roy L.

Duncan Jr. of East Hampton; three grandsons, Roy L. Duncan Ill of Bloomfield, Robert A. Duncan of Sturbridge, and Roger H. Duncan of Windsor; and five great-grandchildren.

Private graveside service will be Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. There are no calling hours. GVARA. Mary "Vaggie" (Dlugolenski) Gvara, 70, of 83 West Windsor Locks, widow of Joseph Gvara, died Wednesday (March 20) at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was born in New Britain, and formerly lived in Poquonock before moving to Windsor Locks 14 years ago. She had worked and been a part of the Roncari Family for the past 26 years. She also had been employed by Pratt Whitney for 28 years before her retirement.

She was communicant of St. Mary's Church, and with her friends occasionally attended Immanuel Baptist Church, Suffield. She is survived by a son, Michael Gvara of Costa Mesa, two ter and Geraldine Dlugolenski of brothers and sisters-in-law, WalMeriden, and Edward and Ann of Cromwell; two grandchildren, John Gvara of Cosfa Mesa, and Shannon Gvara of Texas; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Gvara; a daughter, Anita Gvara; and four brothers, John, Joseph, Stanley Diugolenski, and Anthony Dlugolenski, who was killed in Normandy. HANSEN. Elizabeth A. Hansen, 69, of Yarmouth, Maine, and former longtime resident Manchester, died Wednesday (March 20, 1991) in a Portland, Maine, hospital. She was the widow of Clifford E. Hansen, who died November 1987.

Mrs. Hansen was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Shanghai, China, daughter of the late Glenn T. and Ethel (Ivey) Armstrong. She was a resident of Sharon, and Brooklyn, N.Y., lived in Manchester for over 40 years, and recently moved to Yarmouth, Maine.

A graduate of Erasmus Hall High School, she attended Brooklyn College, and Heffley Business School, all of New York. In New York, Mrs. Hansen worked at Standard Brands, and Curtis Publishing and in Connecticut at the Pratt Whitney Aircraft Clifford E. Hansen Insurance and Real Estate, and the U.S. District Court in Hartford, retiring in 1985 as a deputy clerk.

She was an active member of the Congregational Church, Manchester, and the Strickland- Group as well serving as secretary of the Church Council, and the Religious Education Board. She was a past member of the Republican Town Committee, and she enjoyed playing bridge as well as traveling with the local chapter of the A.A.R.P. She is survived by three sons, Bruce A. Hansen of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Douglas M. Hansen of Portland, Maine, and David S.

Hansen of Cocoa Beach, a daughter, Janet H. Zebrowski of Yarmouth, Maine; and two sisters, Janet M. Armstrong of Chicago, and Ruth Van Meter of Minnetonka, Minn. Funeral service will be Friday, 2:30 p.m., at the Second Congregational Church, 385 N. Main Manchester.

She was the daughter of the late Jocob and Ann (Sobiech) Koand was a resident of New Britain for 78 years.

She was the widow of Joseph Januszewski. She was formerly employed by the Fafnir Bearing for 31 years, retiring 1963. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church for 78 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society, Third Order of St. Francis, and the Adoration Society.

She is survived by a son, former Probate Judge Edward J. Januszewski of New Britain; a son and daughter-inlaw, Frank and Diane Januszewski of Rockville Center, L.I.; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Leocadia Zera, and Mrs. Simon Genevieve Narus, both of New Britain; a brother, Wladyslaw Kobus; a sister Ann Kaczmarczyk, both in Poland; 15 grandchildren; seven several nieces and nephews.
