Segla, 215 Central Street and accuracy in reporting the events taking place in our town, were both satisfying and interesting to many of The Hartford Courant readers living in and outside of Newington," they wrote. "Jonathan was a real professional," said Frank Connolly, former Newington town manager. "Any article that he wrote, he tried to be as impartial and fair as he could be." Chambers was a member of the Connecticut Association of Black Communicators and the National Association of Black Journalists. He was an instructor for the Greater Hartford Minority Journalism Workshop, which encourages high school students to pursue careers in journalism.

"As a friend and a colleague, he was always there when you needed him," said Frances Grandy Taylor, president of the Connecticut journalists' group. "We will miss him very much." A memorial scholarship in Chambers' name will be offered to graduating high school seniors who intend to study journalism in college, she said. Chambers is survived by his mother, Naomi Chambers; his father, Evans Chambers; and two brothers, Evans Chambers and Ronald Gaines, all of Baltimore. Funeral services will be Friday in Baltimore. Arrangements are being handled by the March Funeral Home West, 4300 Wabash Baltimore.

MOTTA. Santo Motta, 89, of Canicat-tini Bagni, Province of Siracusa, Sicily, Italy, widower of Taola (Amodio) Motta, died March 26 in Italy. He lived for most of his life in Italy. He is survived by five sons, Giuseppe of Italy, Sebastiano of Rocky Hill, Salvatore of Hartford, Paolo of Hartford, and Giovanni of Wethersfield; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

PRESTRIDGE. Jefferson Leon Prestridge, 73, of 96 Norwich Colchester, died Tuesday (March 26), at the William W. Backus Hospital, Norwich. He was born February 21, 1918 in Ooltewah, son of the late William and Myrlte McGee Prestridge. He was married to his second wife, Elizabeth Johnson.

He was a World War II and Korean Conflict Navy veteran and a submariner, who served in the Pacific, Mid East, and Africa aboard the USS Pargo, the Sea Lion, the Piranha, ana the Jallao. He was a welder machininst for Electric Boat and also Pratt Whitney Aircraft. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Jefferson L. Prestridge, Jr. of Salem; a step-son, Jeffrey Vasington of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Nina Zacha-cef ski of Colchester; a step-daughter, Bette Lou McNichols of Norwich; a brother, Lloyd Prestridge in Georgia; three sisters, Elizabeth Early, Phanoy Yarnell, Vasti Prestridge, all of Tennessee; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; numerous nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Effie Prestridge and a son, Tommy Prestridge. Funeral service will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Hebron. Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Hebron with full military honors.

Calling hours will be today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Belmont Funeral Home, 144 S. Main Colchester. QUEY. Mary L. Quey, 87, formerly of Summer Street, Manchester, died Tuesday (March 26) at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She was the widow of Martin Joseph Quey. Born in Italy, she lived In Manchester for over 50 years. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Manchester Modes. She is survived by a son, Paul Quey of Manchester; a daughter, Ernestine Mitchell of Manchester; four grandchildren, Ann Marie Nadelman of Putnam, Janet Gurka of Lansing, Michelle Quey of Manchester, and Jennifer Quey of Manchester; and two great-grandchildren, Christine Laura Nadelman, and Carrie Sarah Nadelman, both of Putnam. Funeral service will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at John F.

Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Manchester. Burial will be In St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 E.m.

Memorial contributions may made to the charity of the donor's choice. REPOLI. Robert Angelo Repoli, 53, of 11 Westerly Terrace, East Hartford, died Monday (March 25, 1991) in St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He was born In Hartford, and lived in East Hartford for all of his life.

He was employed by the Board of Education for the Town of East Hartford for 25 years, until his retirement in Jonathan D. Chambers of Baltimore, a former staff writer at The Courant, died Monday at Baltimore County General Hospital in Towson, atter a long illness. He was 29. Family members said Chambers died of complications from a long-term illness. He was hospitalized Thursday.

Chambers, formerly of Hartford, was The Cou-rant's Newington reporter for two years before resigning in January. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartford. Chambers had been a re- chambers porter at the Asbury (N.J.) Park Press and the Raleigh (N.C.) News Observer before joining The Courant in 1988. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland. "Jon was a real asset to the city desk," said Courant city editor Janet McMillan.

"He always volunteered to help when stories were breaking or a co-worker was absent. Despite his health problems, he tried to put his job first." Newington officials and employees at town hall said Chambers was friendly and thoughtful. Last month, Keith H. Chapman, Newington's acting town manager, and the town council sent Chambers a letter thanking him for his coverage. "The insight and understanding displayed by you, and your fairness Helen Hostetter; Helen Hostetter, a retired teacher in the Hartford public schools, died Monday.

She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and its Senior Citizens, and a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She leaves two daughters, Bess D.

Nericcio of Daley City, Mary D. Gamilis of Somers; a son, Constantine Dumas of Wethersfield; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., from the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home, 247 Washington Hartford, followed by services in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Helen Hostetter, 84, of Rocky Hill, died Monday (March 25). She was born In Farmington, and was a teacher in the Hartford Public School System, retiring in 1977. She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. She received her degrees from Columbia University, New York, and was licensed in California, New York, and Connecticut, to teach the special education child.

She leaves a sister, Yvonne Brown of California; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Thursday, March 28, 10 a.m., in the Protestant chapel of the Rocky Hill Veteran's Home and Hospital. Burial will be in Col. R.F. Gates Cemetery, Rocky Hill.

Adele (Schwartzberg) Kadish, 75, of 48 Windsor Melrose, formerly of Wethersfield, died Tuesday (March 26, 1991) at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, Mass. She was a retired secretary with the Hartford Juvenile Court.

She was the widow of Harold Kadish. She was the beloved mother of Marlene Prosansky of Melrose, and the late Toby (Kadish) Goralsky; sister of Edward Schwartzberg of New Jersey, Mrs. Ethel Merlin, and Mrs. Ruth Wax, both of New York City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Thursday, 1:30 p.m., in the chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farming-ton Hartford, with interment in John Hay Memorial Park.

Henry Krasusky, 51, of 61 Carriage Drive, Tolland, husband of Eileen (Hogan) Krasusky, died Tuesday (March 26) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Flushing, N.V., son of Julian Krasusky of Peekskill, N.Y., and the late Alice (DeMeo) Krasusky, and was a Tolland resident for 18 years. Mr.

Krasusky was an engineer at Pratt 8. Whitney Aircraft, a communicant of St. Matthew's Church, and was active with the Boy Scouts. He was a former member of the Nathan Hale Ancient Fife 8. Drum Corps, and a former member of the Glastonbury Modelers Club.

Besides his wite ana tatner, ne is survived by two sons, Roger Krasusky, and Paul Krasusky, both of Tolland. Funeral service will be Friday, 9 a.m., from the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Rockville, with a Blessing, 10 a.m., in St. Matthew's Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Andrew Laskarzewski, 39, formerly of Commonwealth Avenue, New Britain, died Monday (March 25, 1991), at New Britain General Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of New Britain, he was the son of Florence (Woznlak) Laskarzewski of New Britain and the late Henry Laskarzewski. A graduate of Pulaski High School in 1969, he received his B.S.

degree and an MBA degree from University of Connecticut, Storrs. He was formerly employed by the Hartford Insurance Group and currently by Orion Capital Companies, Farmington. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Spartans Vets A.C., New Britain. Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, Michael Laskarzewski of New Britain; three sisters, Susan McCall of Ashland, Margie Davis of New Britain, and Patricia Tormay of Plantsville; several aunts; uncles; many cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, 9:15 a.m., from the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt New Britain, followed by a prayer service, 10 a.m., at Holy Cross Church.

Begin, 58, of W. Main Street, Avon, and Sandisfield, died Monday (March 25, 1991) at his home in Avon. He was born Aug. 15, 1932, In St. George, Quebec, Canada, and most recently divided his time between Avon and Sandisfield, Mass.

Mr. Begin was an electrician for the past 30 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 35, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6119.

He is survived by two sons, Rickl J. Begin of Haskell, N. and Alan E. Begin of Avon; and two sisters, Liz Nadeau of Lauzon, Quebec, Canada, and Jeannine Maheux of Notre Dame of the Rosary, Quebec, Canada. Funeral service and burial will be in Quebec, Canada.

Alice (Taylor) Clark, 85, of Essex Meadows, Essex, died March 20, 1991, at Essex Meadows Health Care Center, Essex, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Breckinridge Clark, and daughter of the late Herbert and Lida (Irwin) Taylor. She was born in Chicago, May 5, 1905, and was formerly of Old Kelsey Point Road, Westbrook, and Danielson. She Is survived by three sons, Robert Clark of East Berlin, David T. Clark of Farmington, and Breckinridge Clark of West Hartford; two sisters, Margaret Waterman, and Helen Davidson, both of California; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorial service will be Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m., in the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Say-brook. Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Drum 72, of Okala, husband of the late Marian (Whittle) Drum, died Monday (March 25) in Florida. He was born In Harrisburg, and had lived in Ellington for many years before moving to Florida. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, Class of 1987. Before his retirement, Mr. Drum was employed by Pratt Whitney Aircraft.

He is survived by a son, Dale E. Drum Jr. of Manchester-three daughters, Marian Drum of Okala, Martha Cavanna of Glastonbury, Sunny Ferringo of Williamstown, N.J.; a sister, Madeline in New York; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Saturday, 8 a.m. from the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Rockville, with a blessing at 9 a.m.

Anastasia (Klapatch) Griffith, of Hartford, beloved wife of James J. Griffith, died Monday (March 25) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, she lived in Hartford for over 60 years. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church, Hartford, was a member of the Rosary Society of the church, and the Barry Square Seniors.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, James J. Griffith Jr. of Wethers-field, Micheal J. Griffith of Torrance, Robert W. Griffith of Rocky Hill, and Phillip W.

Griffith of South Windsor; two daughters, Mary Agnes Bernabucci of Newtown, and Kathleen G. Bouwkamp of Coaco Beach Florida; two brothers, John Klapatch of Hartford, and Oneufre Klapatch of Bristol; five sisters, Ann McTier-nan of South Carolina, Millie Mi-chalicki of Hartford, Helen Plasky of New Britain, Mary Donahue, and Olga Chudzik-Langley, both of Latan, Florida; and 13 grandchildren. DEATH NOTICES ALLEN. Myrtle (Jacobs) Allen, 71, of 42 Harrison Windsor Locks, wife of Robert W. Allen, died Monday (March 25) at home. She was born in Springfield, and formerly lived in West Springfield, before moving to Windsor Locks 28 years ago. She was a real estate broker for over 25 years in the Northern Connecticut area, most recently affiliated with the Merrigan-Lefebvre Real Estate, Windsor Locks, for 15 years.

A member of the Congregational Church of Windsor Locks, she had been an officer, secretary, and director of the North Central Board of Realtors, the Greater Hartford Board of Realtors, the Northern Connecticut Board of Realtors, the Women's Council of Realtors, the Connecticut Association of Realtors, and the National Realtors Association. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Joseph M. Allen; two daughters, Beverly J. Green of Windsor Locks, and Judith A. Robinson of Windsor; and five grandchildren.

Funeral service win be Friday, 11 a.m., at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Windsor Locks. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Grove Cemetery. Charles Andrew Clark, 74, of 1069 N. Grand West Suff ield, husband of Ruth (Clifton) Clark, died Monday (March 25, 1991) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He was born in Stmsbury, and lived in West Suffield for the past 35 years. He was employed by SNET for 38 years, retiring in 1979.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2758, Simsbury, a former member of the Suffield Fire Commission, and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ruth M.

Green-berger of Pittsfield, and Audrey P. Burke of Southington; two sisters, Margaret Fontanella of Bolton, and Mariorie Tracy of New-ington; two grandchildren, Michelle, and Douglas; and two stepgrandchildren. He was recently predeceased by a brother, Henry W. Laura M. DiPietro, 76, of 88 Birch Street, Forestvllle, wife of Vincent J. DiPietro, died Monday (March 25) at Bristol Hospital. Born June 10, 1914 in Windsor Locks, she was the daughter of the late Oronzo and Grace (Dzrisante) Delfino. Mrs.

DePietro had been a resident of Bristol most of her life and was a member of St. Matthews Church, Forestville. Besides her husband, she Is survived by a son, Vincent J. DiPietro of Palm Springs, a daughter, Antoinette (Ton!) Donald A. Domain 73, of 270 Mountain Road, Ellington, husband of the late Mary (Pla-klas) Domain, died Monday (March 25) at Vernon Manor Health Care Facility. He was born in Springfield, and was an Ellington resident for 30 years. Be- fore his retirement, Mr. Domain was employed by Pratt Whitney Aircraft, and he was a U.S.

Florence I. (Raulinai-tis) Thompson, 62, of 38 Windham Road, Enfield, widow of Samuel A. Thompson, died Tuesday (March 26) at home. She was born in Hartford, and lived there before moving to Enfield In 1960. She had been employed by U.S.

Shoe Enfield, for seven years retiring two years ago. She is survived by two sons, Samuel A. Thompson IV of Springfield, and Marc Anthony Thompson of Enfield; a sister, Helen Wiezalis of Newington; and three grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday, 11 a.m., at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Burial will be in Enfield Street Cemetery.

Edward Nelson Worthington, 69, of Joshuatown Road, Hadlyme, husband of Phyllis (Boorman) Worthington, died Monday (March 25) at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, New London, after a short illness. He was born In Mlddletown, Nov. 14, 1921, son of the late Edward C. and Alice (Nelson) Worthington. Mr.

Worthington had lived in Hadlyme for the past 44 years, and was a self-employed caretaker. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Besides his wife, he leaves a son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy (Forrest) Worthington of Moodus; a daughter, Martha Alice Worthington of Arroyo Seca, N.M.; and a grandson, Christopher James Worthington of Moodus. Bertha (Popkln) Varga Torres, 63, of Hartford, beloved wife of Peter Torres, died Sunday (March 24, 1991) in Hartford Hospital. She was born in Trenton, N.J., and resided in Hartford since 1967. For the past 14 years, she was employed by Sage Allen and worked at Hartford Hospital as a volunteer. Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Linda Wallace of San Clemente, Nancy Newcomer of Chester, and Lois Varga of Tujunga, three sisters, Rose Solomon of Hartford, Carolyn Woods of Jamesburg, N.J., and Judith Le-vine of Lake Worth, and three grandchildren, Astasia "Stacy, and Amber Cowell, both of Chester, and Seth Wallace of San Clemente, Calif. Leland David Wilcox 60, of West Hartford, formerly of New Hampshire, died March 26, 1991, at Hartford Hospital after a brief Illness.

Born in Worcester, Sept. 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Leland David and Miriam (Llngley) Wilcox, and was a resident of West Hartford for most of his life. He was a graduate of William Hall High School, West Hartford, and attended the University of Connecticut. He was formerly an account representative with Moore Business Forms, New York City, and later with Allied Egry Business Systems, Hartford. He later became a general contractor establishing businesses In West Hartford and New Hampshire.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He Is survived by his beloved former wife and dear friend, Diane (Burnham) Wilcox of West Hartford; a son and daughter-in-law, Leland David and Leslie L. Wilcox III of Avon; a daughter, Leslie Burnham Wilcox of Farmington; a sister, June Wilcox Allen of Bethel; and a grandson, Leland David Wilcox IV. Funeral service will be private.
