Oliver, ,92, of Wethers- 7 r5 sfield, passed away Robert E. Kelley, 75, of Vernon, beloved Husband, MEADOWS, Clara P. Clara P. Meadows, 92, wife of the late Hugh E. Meadows, passed away on Monday (October 4, 2010) at Masonicare in Walling-ford.

Born in Bridgeport, CT she was the daughter of the late Carl and Grace Perry. Clara and her husband enjoyed many years of camping and traveling by themselves and also with the NCT. She especially loved being around her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters; Janice Black and her husband David, Carol Morin and her husband Donald. Two sons, Carl Meadows and his wife Linda, and Robert Meadows.

Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren One sister, Lois Edwin. She is predeceased by one sister, Ruth Burgess. A funeral service will be held on Saturday (October 9, 2010) at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Rocky Hill, CT. Burial will follow inside Rose Hill Memorial Park.

There will be one calling hour before the service from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Masonicare, 22 Masonic Walling-ford, CT, 06492. peacefully on Sunday, (October 3, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. Charlie was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. He served in the U.S.

Navy during World War II, was an avid Red Sox fan, and retired from Nardi Bakery. He is survived by a large circle of loved ones left to keep his memory alive: his dear friend, Jean White of We-thersfield, and her daughter, Louise, and grandson, Danny; John and Kathleen McMahon of Newington, and their family, Kyla McMahon and Jessy McCarthy, both of Northampton, MA; Robert and Karen Buckland of Windsor, and their family, Katelynn and Timothy Benjamin of Windsor, and Daniel Buck-land and Pamela Fella of Astoria, NY; Thomas, Susan, and Elizabeth Buckland of Wethersfield, and their family, Melissa Buckland and Jesse, Gianna, Zoey, and Tristan Williams of Wethersfield; and Patricia Vogel of Windsor. He was predeceased by Margaret and Francis Buckland. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday (October 9, 2010) 10 a.m., at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Windsor.

John Sergeant John Scannell, CT State Police, 33, of Tolland and loving husband of Christian (DeCourcey) Scannell, died unexpectedly at home on October 4, 2010. He was born December 21, 1976 in Leicester, MA to Maureen (Lucey) and Paul Scannell. He was a Sergeant in the CT State Police in Da-nielson, CT. Upon graduation from Leicester High School, John went on to receive his bachelor's degree at Worcester State College and a Master's Degree from Anna Maria College. After several years of service with the Connecticut State Police, John was recently promoted as a sergeant at Troop in Danielson.

Above all, John was a loving husband and devoted father who always put family and friends first in his life. Besides his wife and parents, John is also survived by his children, Allison, Amanda and Adam as well as his siblings, Neil, Steven and Megan. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 8 p.m., Thursday (October 7, 2010) at St. Matthew's Church, 111 Tolland Green, Tolland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday (October 8, 2010) at St.

Matthew's Church. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Leicester, MA. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made at Savings Institute Bank Trust in Tolland, CT to the John Scannell Memorial Fund, which has been created to support John's children in their education costs. A lifelong New Britain resident, Stella was a member of St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church in New Britain; and was a member of St. Olga Sisterhood, the Mothers Club and a member of the choir at the church. Surviving are two daughters, Andrea Kobela of New Britain, and Glorya Si-moa and her husband James, also of New Britain; two sisters, Katherine Kere-leja of Kensington, and Elizabeth Cherpak and her husband George of Southington; a grandson, James M. Simoa Jr.

of West Hartford; a great granddaughter, Juliana Simoa; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Friday 10 a.m. at St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 54 Winter Street, New Britain, CT 06051. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday 5 8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain and Friday morning 9 a.m. at the church. A Panachida service will be conducted Thursday 6 p.m. at the funeral home, MAREK, John Robert Joseph Alfred "Freddy" Remillard, 74, of Canton died, unexpectedly on Saturday (October 2, 2010). He was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen A. Remillard. Born in Canada, he lived in Hartford for many years and in Berlin, before moving to Canton a short time ago.

Joseph was employed by the City of Hartford, Public Works Dept. for 35 years and was a member of the St. Mary's Church and St. Luke's Church, Hartford. He also was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3884, Newington and the Windsor Marksman Assoc.

Survivors include his sons Joseph A. Remillard, Jr. and his wife Christie of Boynton Beach, FL, Daniel Remillard, two grandchildren Samantha and Lexi Remillard, his brother Noel Remillard in Maine, his sister-in-law Mar-yAnn Remillard of Canton, his brother-in-law Charles Carron and his wife Nancy of East Hartford and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Paul Remillard and his sister Jeanne Berube. His funeral service will be held on Friday, 9 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St.

Mary's Church. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 8 p.m. at Newington Memorial. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart 1 Union Suite 301, Rob-binsville, NJ 08691.

Father, Papa, and Brother passed away peacefully on Monday (October 4, 2010) with his family by his side following a courageous battle with cancer. With such a passion for life and helping others, he touched so many lives and will be missed sorely by all. He leaves behind, his loving, devoted wife of 50 years Marilla Gay (Brayall) whom he loved more than life itself. He enjoyed and was an avid supporter of the UConn Women's Basketball Team and Boston Red Sox with his wife and was always cheering for his teams.

His children that meant the world to him, his daughter Diane Carpenter and husband Rick, his son Mike and wife Jane of Vernon, and son John and wife Kellie of Ellington. Three precious granddaughters who brought so much joy to him, Dana Carpenter, Ashley Kelley, and Sarah Carpenter and their afternoons of boating on Coventry Lake. Two sisters Elaine and husband John Rusczyk Blanche Putnam, and a brother Burton Kelley and his wife Chris and also several nieces and nephews. He was a Graduate of Glastonbury High School in 1953. He served Honorably in the Navy from 1957 to 1959.

His first career was at the Metropolitan District Commission in Hartford until his retirement in 1989. At that time he began his next venture at Tolland County Mutual Aid as Manager which he held until the time of his passing. His second family was the Volunteer Fire Department. He joined the Rockville Fire Department in 1967 (the Fitch Company). He rose through the ranks and formed Rescue Company 441.

He was one of the key members involved with the consolidation of the Rockville and Vernon Volunteer Fire Departments in 1979. He attained the rank of Fire Chief in 1986 until his retirement from this position in 2007. He currently served as Finance Officer of the Department. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday (October 8, 2010) at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville (Please Meet at Church) Burial will follow at Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon. For online condolences, please visit: WALKER, Altanese Nicole SHLIEN, Morris Morris bhlien, age John Robert Marek, 75, of Tolland, died 92, died peacefully on Sunday (October Monday, (October Donna (Hastings) Senna, 69, of 3, 2010). Born in Middle-town, he was the son of the late Hyman and Rose Weiss Shlien. He attended Woo-drow Wilson High School, and after graduating began working for G. Fox and Co.

in Hartford. In 1942, he joined the Armed Services and was eventually promoted to Master Sergeant. He served in the 390th Bomb Group and was stationed in England for most of World War II. After the war, he returned to G. Fox and became head buyer for the Toy Dept.

In 1955, he founded the Toy Chest in West Hartford Center and ran the business successfully for over 40 years until his retirement. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elinor, his son Robert and daughter-in-law Emmeline Wexer, his two grandchildren Rebecca and Daniel, and his two sisters, Elizabeth and Beatrice. He was predeceased by his daughter, Robin. Morris was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and was devoted to his family and friends. Besides his success as a businessman, he enjoyed other interests including a love of music.

He played several instruments and composed music as well. He had a terrific sense of humor and wit and always enjoyed a good laugh. He was a life long member of Beth El Temple, West Hartford and Tumblebrook Country Club, Bloomfield. He will be missed by all his family and friends who loved him dearly. A graveside funeral service will be held TODAY, Wednesday (October 6, 2010) at 1:30 p.m.

"Betty" Pane, 70, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of 35 years to Vincent Pane, died Saturday, (October 2, 2010) at Hartford Hospital.

Born February 7, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York, Betty was the daughter of the late John and Grace Hands. She had lived in Glastonbury for 35 years. Prior to her retirement, Betty had been a legal secretary for Shipman Goodwin. Betty enjoyed weekends at Eastover, a resort in the Berkshires where she met her husband and many lifelong friends. Betty and Vinny enjoyed the tranquility of spending summers at their cottage on Lake Terra-muggus in Marlborough.

Always a New Yorker, Betty loved traveling to the city to reconnect with her girlfriends over lunch or shopping. She also cherished her walks along the beach with Vinny in Fort Myers, Florida, and all the friends they made during their many winters residing there. Besides her beloved husband, she is survived by a sister, Grace Ryder of Florida, a brother-in-law, Charles Carroll of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathy Carroll. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Glastonbury on Thursday, (October 7, 2010) from 5-7 p.m.

A service will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Pra-nitis, 71 of Bristol, peacefully passed away on Friday, (October 1, 2010). Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Gilavich) and Stanley Pra-nitis.

She attended local schools and was a very talented artist. She was an employee of the State of Connecticut before her retirement. Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St. Plainville, is assisting the family with the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

To share your memories with Patty's family please visit her memorial tribute wall at Doris Ann Caldwell Olson of Bridgeport died Monday at home. She and her husband, the Rev. John W. Olson, celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 16, 2010. Dorie, as everyone called her, owned and operated Sew Be It on the Post Road in Fairfield for 14 years.

There she sold Bernina Swiss sewing machines, fabrics and notions. She was a skilled craftswoman in sewing, knitting, crocheting, needle point, quilting and smocking as well as buttonhole making. She was born December 9, 1932, daughter of Paul W. and Katherine Ruth Ohmen Caldwell of New Milford. On September 11, 2010 she attended the 60th anniversary of her New Milford High School graduating class.

She graduated in 1954 from the University of Connecticut with a major in home economics. Dorie loved to travel. She and her husband camped in many parks around the country with their daughters. She took a number of cruises and several trips to Europe with family and friends. Dorie made sure that holidays and birthdays were celebrated with each and every family member.

She made Christmas the most wonderful holiday of the year for all she loved. Dorie's parents and her brother James Caldwell of New Milford predeceased her. Besides her husband, she leaves her three daughters, Karen Ruth Underhill and her husband Robert of Brookfield; Emily M. Fisher and her husband Kenneth of New Milford, Melissa Ann Pionzio and her husband John of East Hampton; four grandchildren, Robert Q. and Lindsay Marie Underhill of Brookfield and Jennifer Lynn and Jack Pionzio of East Hampton; one sister Patricia Pitkin and her husband Donald of Mohrsville, two aunts, an uncle and many nieces, nephews; and many friends in Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, Vermont, and Canada.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, (October 7, 2010) at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, North and Laurel Avenues, Bridgeport, followed by a reception. The Rev. Douglas Miller of Fairfield will officiate. A private burial service will be held in Center Cemetery, New Milford.

Dorie's family thanks all those who encouraged her during her illness with their visits, phone calls and letters, including her oncologist Dr. Laurie Harrold, and the Visiting Nurses-Hospice at Home staff of Trumbull. Born in Union-ville, March 25, 1935, son of the late Catherine Frances (Roman) and the late John Michael Marek, he was a life-long Connecticut resident in Unionville, Burlington, Avon, then Tolland. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Jane (Shearer) in 1991. John was a U.S. Army veteran who enlisted shortly before the conclusion of the Korean Conflict and served overseas in Germany. His tool and die-making career culminated in the formation of his own firm, Marek Engineering, in Stafford.

John adored his grandchildren, loved his family, and enjoyed playing cards and racing. John was always on-the-go frequently to help others, known by all to be truly wonderful and a gentleman in all respects. John is survived by his sons, John Robert (Catharine Elizabeth) Marek, Jr. of Broad Brook, Michael Marek of Stafford Springs, and, Joseph Andrew Marek of Tolland, and his daughters, Lisa Marie Marek of Stafford Springs, and, Kathleen Marek of Tolland. John's beloved grandchildren include Victoria Suzanne Taylor, Sarah Margaret Marek, Catharine Grace Marek, Joseph Andrew Marek, Nicholas Austin Taylor and Nicholas' father, Mark Taylor.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Jakob David Wampold. John also leaves his brother, Richard Peter Marek, of Plainville, his sister Patricia (Roger) Burwood of Unionville, and his sister Anna Nadeau of South Windsor. He was predeceased by his sister Janet Weber. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends including Ste-vey, Harry, Donny, Tommy, Fran, Mark and many others. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for all of the support and understanding extended to John, his business and his family during his illness.

A devout Catholic, Donna was an active faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford where she was a member of their Ladies Guild and Caregiver's Group. She was an avid ten-pin bowler who participated in many area leagues and competed and was a former champion in state tournaments. Donna was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, who also enjoyed gardening, birds, and an overall animal lover. Besides her loving husband, Allan, Donna is survived by her three "adopted Audrey A. Brown and her husband, Brian, of East Hartford, Arleen M.

Peronto and her husband, Jim, of East Hartford, Kara Hickey of South Windsor; a brother-in-law, Albert Senna and his wife, Lima, of Ocean Side, CA; a sister-in-law, Aileen Senna in North Carolina; two nephews, Dale Horn and his wife, Carolyn, and Gary Horn all in North Carolina; three nieces, Holly Senna in California, Catherine Reeves in North Carolina, Karen Rafferty and her husband, Kevin, in Virginia; many grandnieces, grand-nephews, and several dear friends. Funeral services will be Friday (October 8th) at 9:30 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. Altanese Nicole Walker, 25, of Hartford was born in Middletown to Deborah Robinson (Gadson) presently of East Hartford and Richard Walker of Snellville, GA. She departed this life on September 30, 2010. Altanese was a beautiful woman who enjoyed her fashion and her music. She is survived by her mother Deborah and stepfather Antonio Gadson of East Hartford; one son Dondiego Sen-tiel Robinson two sisters, Solana Gadson of East Hartford and Rycheal Walker of Snellville GA; four brothers, Keenan Gadson of East Hartford, Anthony De-Vaugh, Treven Walker, Richard J. Walker all of Snellville, GA.

She is predeceased by aunt Marshall Y. Robinson and survived by Vanessa Strickland of Middletown, Lisa Walker of Norwich and Latasha Walker of Torrington; three uncles, Jerry Lee Robinson Jr. of Middletown, Darryl Walker of Hartford, Gary Walker of Concord, NH; goddaughter, Heavyn Qui-nonez of East Hartford and a host of other relatives and friends.
