THE HARTFORD COURANT TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2009 B9 OBITUARIES MORAN, Sheila MONACCIO, John Preston LEWIS, Judith S. Judith S. Lewis, of Canton, widow of Robert E. Lewis, passed away peacefully Saturday, (October 31, 2009) at home with her family by her side. She leaves her son, Timothy Smith Lewis; her daughter, Linda Lewis Betances, both of Canton; four grandchildren, Krystle Lynn Lewis of Florida, Brittany Carol Donovan Lewis, Peter William Smith Lewis, and Emma Mae Betances, all of Canton.

KLATT, Genevieve (Nawroski) Genevieve (Nawroski) Klatt, 85, wife of the late William F. Klatt, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, (November 1, 2009). She was a proud graduate of the East Hartford High School class of 1942. She was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Genny was also a charter member of the Wethersfield Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, where she was affectionately kown as "The Sarge." She leaves behind one son, William, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Wethersfield; one daughter, Jane Winters and her husband, David of Mil-ford; she walso leaves three grandchildren whom she adored, Brian and Steven Klatt, and Shawna Winters. She was also survived by her sister-in-law, Anna Klatt Ma-nookian and her husband, Edward, of New Jersey along with several nieces and nephews. A service will be beld on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10 a.m.

at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours will be on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 2-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St.

David J. Liska, passed away on November 1, 2009. David lost his courageous six and a half year battle with cancer. David was born February 18, 1945 in Middletown, CT. He was preceded in death by his father, William Justin Liska; his mother, Irene Gadinski Liska; and his sister, Irene P.

Liska. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Kathleen H. Liska; his sister, Felecia Ja-mieson (Norman) of East Haddam, two daughters (estranged); brother-in-law, Steve Hatchell (Debbie); nephews, Matthew and Sean Harrison, all of Chase City, cousins, Edward Zolkie-witz (Joanne), Victoria Zolkie-witz-Macinnis (Bruce) both of Wallingford, Juliet Benjamin (Joseph) of Kinsing-ton, his Godsons, Christopher Zolkiewitz and Mark Trotochaud both of Conn. David was a National Guard Veteran. He was retired having had two careers, the first in the printing industry working 24 years at Donnelly Printing and at Cadmus Communications, both in Connecticut.

The second was with Santa Fe Technologies in Virginia. David was a true friend to many, among them especially dear are Jim and Cindy Ambrose of Richmond and Robert Trotochaud of East Haddam, Conn. David had the most generous spirit and we loved him with our whole hearts just as he loved us. His passing will leave a void that can never be filled. LaGrange, 69, of 117 Spencer Street, passed away on Sunday, (November 1, 2009) at Hartford Hospital following a short illness. Born in Springfield, MA, June 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Lucy (Demercurio) Bosco. Prior to her retirement, she had held various secretarial jobs the latest being with Friends of Main Street. She graduated form high school in Enfield and received her Batchelors Degree from UConn, Torring-ton branch. Ann was a member of the Canton Camera Club and the Red Hat Ladies of Winsted.

She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking and antiques. Her survivors include two daughters, Cori Gore of West Hartland and Luann Barker of Winsted; a brother, Dominic Bosco of West Hartland and two granddaughters, Amy and Melinda Gore. LeVasseur passed away on Sunday, (November 1, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital. He was the husband of the late Joyce M. McCarthy. They were married for 62 years.

Francis was born in Hartford in 1919 and was the son of the late Francis J. and Gertrude (Hemingway) LeVasseur. Francis served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on a subchaser and fought in major naval battles at Salerno and Anzio. He worked at the Allen Manufacturing Co.

as a metallurgist and retired after 40 years of service. He is survived by one daughter Jeanne LeVasseur and her husband David. He is predeceased by two brothers, Clarence and Donald LeVasseur, and one sister, Vivian Guica. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 5-7 pm at the Al-derson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 S. Main St.

John was born July 11, 1932, to the late Anthony G. Manocchio (Monaccio in 1932) and his first wife, the late Mary Estell (Dougherty) Monaccio. John lived most of his life in the Greater Hartford area before moving to Arizona.

At 18, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at the Samson Air Force Base in Seneca, NY, working in the Air Force Hospital there. He began his photographic career with the Edward Saxe Studio on Main Street in Hartford. Later he spent several years as Audio-Visual Director at Trinity College in Hartford, retiring in 1987. Being a fan of football, one of the highlights of his career was when he served as the official photographer for the Hartford Knights Football Team. John is survived by his wife, Phyliss (Williams) Monaccio; his sons, J.

Christopher Monaccio and James A. Monaccio and his wife Kristin, of Manchester, William A. Monaccio and his wife An-nete, of Arizon, Gregory T. Monaccio of Hartford and his son by his former marriage, John Kevin Monaccio of Virginia; and several precious grandchildren. John also leaves two sisters, Susan Dal-gleish of Windsor Locks and Lee Ann Harding of New York; as well as his cousin, John Jackson of Newington; along with nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandneph-ews.

John was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Stanton, and his brother Merwin Page, both of Florida. Cremation was private. The family would like to extend a warm expression of appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Citadel Care Center for the kind care given to John over the past several weeks. Raymond D. O'Neill, age 68, of i Old Saybrook, passed 'away peacefully Octo ber 31, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with liver disease. He was born November 8, 1940, to Thomas and Peggy O'Neill in Manchester. He is survived by his loving daughters Cait-lin, Tara and Kelly O'Neill from Old Saybrook. He leaves behind brothers and sisters, Sheila Chemerka of Bolton; Thomas O'Neill of Danielson; Peggy Heon of Chatanooga, TN; and Johnny O'Neill of Pocatello, ID.

He also leaves many nieces and nephews, dear friends, and his children's mother and friend Lisa Ellis. Ray was a proud member of AA and NA for 29 years. He cherished the lives of everyone at St. John's Church and School, where he formally worked, as well as an alcohol counselor at Stonehaven Treatment Center and Hamilton Connections. Ray devoted his life to helping others and was an inspiration to everyone he knew.

Ray was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics. He loved extreme sports and all other outdoor activities. Family and friends will gather at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook, on Wednesday, November 4, from 6-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thrusday November 5, at 11 a.m. at St.

Sheila had lived in Manchester for many years and was the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Katherine (Nevins) Moran. She was a 1975 graduate of East Catholic High School and a 1979 graduate of the University of Connecticut. She had been employed with the Department of Social Services, State of CT for twenty-eight years.

Sheila enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her nieces and nephews, whether it was at the beach, at basketball or baseball games, notably at Red Sox or UCONN games. She was the widow of Edmund Witzke, who died Nov. 19, 2003. Born in Remscheid, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Albert Helm and Emily (Heise) Helm. Theresa was a former Plain-ville resident, moving to New Britain in 1969. She was formerly employed at General Electric in Plainville for many years before retiring.

Theresa loved her Lord Jesus. She was a devoted member of Bethany Covenant Church and participated faithfully in the activities of the church. She was an evangelist in her neighborhood and supported many Christian interests. She was greatly blessed by her Lord and gave thanks in every situation. Theresa was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by five daughters, Irmgard Berger of Kensington, Elfrieda Buettemeyer of Plainville, Hannelore Clarke of Boynton Beach, FL, Annelisa Chalko-Miller of East Granby, and Mary Helen Jobs of Southington. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, De-bra Lynn Wezdenko, David Berger, Karen Diane Dunham, Lonnie Buettemeyer, Wendy Sanders, Cynthia Gould, Daniel Clark, Andrew Chalko, Christa Theresa Wallace, Me-laina Diane Jobs, and Katie Emily Jobs; eleven greatgrandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Herta Witt and Ella two special family members, Nancy Lopez and Brenda Rodriguez; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Rebecca Buettemeyer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m., at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill Berlin. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Plainville.

Soucy, 47, husband of Amy Jurich Soucy, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday (October 31, 2009). He was born in Hartford, the son of Brian and Pamela (Sutherland) Soucy. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his cherished sons, Byron and Brent.

Also surviving are his brother Brett and his wife Stephanie of West Hartford, his Mother-in-law Myrtle Perkins; sisters-in-law, Judy Jurich and Nicki Jurich, and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bruce had a great love of ice hockey, playing for the West Hartford Youth Hockey and Conard High School. He instilled that love into his sons, teaching and coaching them in the game. He was so proud of them and bragged readily about their skills. He was a member of the Board of Directors for West Hartford Youth Hockey, an Assistant Coach and most recently became a referee for the sport.

Bruce will be dearly missed by all who loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, 10 a.m. at the Church of Saint Helena, 30 Echo Lane, West Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

STULA, Alice (Wotus) Alice (Wotus) Stula, 85, of Colchester, widow of the late Bruno Stula, passed away Sunday (November 1, 2009) at the Middlesex Hospital Hospice in Middletown.

Born Sept. 9, 1924 in Hannas-town, PA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Kustwan) Wotus. She and Bruno were married in June of 1952 and shared 38 years of marriage before he predeceased her on January 28, 1991. Mrs. Stula owned and operated Farm and Garden Center in Waterford from 1976 until her retirement in 1995.

She had a true passion for gardening, but her greatest joy was found in her family. A parishioner of St. Andrew Church in Colchester, she had been active with their Ladies Guild for many years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Stula of Colchester, with whom she made her home in later years; three grandchildren, Jennifer of Queens, NY, Carrie of No. Hollywood, CA and Rick of Colchester; two sisters, Violet Exline of Memphis, TN and MaryJane Rainer of Jean-nette, PA; a brother, Joe Wotus of Feeding Hills, MA; and numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Emily Beltz and Jean Te-torka and four brothers, Andy, John, Stanley and Frank Wotus. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Ther funeral will assemble starting at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home before the celebration of the Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m.

ZINS, Lt. Col. William Lt. Col. William Zins, USAF (ret), 96, long time resident of West Hartford, beloved husband to Phyllis Zins for 69 years, entered eternal rest on October 27, 2009.

Born in Cincinnati, OH. Received a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering at University of Cincinnati and a M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering with major in Rotary Wing Aerodynamics and Design at N.Y.U. Entered the Army Air Corp.

(later USAF), 1939-1959. Awarded the Army Commendation Metal. In 1940, Bill became a rated Helicopter Pilot and in 1944, was Development Pilot for the majority of the helicopters for the Amy and Air Force from 1944-1959. As a fixed Wing Pilot he was proficient in Fighters, Bombers, Cargo, and Liaison Aircraft. Served in Fighter Operations as a Engineering Officer 31st Fighter Group at Selfridge Field, Ml.

Commander of the 13th Fighter Squadron, 53rd Fighter Group in Panama Canal Zone. Commander of the 92nd Fighter Squadron, 81st Fighter Wing at Wheeler Field, HI, and also Wing Executive Officer with the 81st Fighter Squadron at Kirtland, AFB, NM. Co-holder of the World Helicopter Straight Line Distance record from Dayton, OH to Boston, MA in 1946, flying an H-5, traveling 703.6 miles. Assigned to the Naval Academy in Maryland as an instructor in Aviation. He was Chief, Bomber and Support Aircraft Div.

Air Research and Dev. Command first at Wright-Patterson, AFB, OH. Then later at Andrews AFB, MD, which included the B-52 and many more Aircraft, Development Programs, and Weapons Systems. In 1959 Bill joined Ka-man Aerospace Corp. in Bloomfield, as Senior Staff Engineer and Military Consultant, close to 20 years.

In 1960, he was appointed by the National Aeronautic Association (14 years) as a U.S. Delegate for the Federation Aeronautical International, held in Paris, France. Along with his loving wife, he will be fondly remembered by his three children, Margot Col-lette, Jack Zins and Becky Olko; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two beloved dogs. As a giving person he wanted his body donated to the U. CT.

School of Medicine, in Farmington, for teaching and research. A celebration of Bill's life will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Suffield by the River, 7 Canal Rd. Suffield, CT.

Mundell, 92, of Manchester and originally from Southern Illinois, beloved husband for 65 years of Knoxie L. Mundell, peacefully passed away with his family at his side Saturday (October 31, 2009) at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 8, 1917 in Benton, IL, son of the late Cornelius W. Nancy E. (Quillman) Mundell, he attended the University of Illinois, he went on to become a School Teacher in a one room school house, he was also an Industrial Engineer and later retired as a self employed facility engineer doing maintenance for local Shell Gas Stations. Carl Knoxie were married in Elgin, IL, on December 26, 1943 and shared many wonderful years together. They loved to go camping to explore new geographic locations, he was enthusiastic about learning something new.

He bought his first computer when he was 70 years old and used that technology to gain genealogy knowledge tracing his families roots back to the 1700's. In retirement, Carl had been a driver for M.A.R.C. and helped out at the Samaritan Shelter. He loved to do the daily crossword puzzle while enjoying his morning coffee. Mr.

Mundell was an active member of Community Baptist Church where he served as Deacon as well as in numerous other capacities. In addition to his wife he is survived by five children, N. David Mundell and his wife Annette of Ea-tonton, Patricia Ann McMahon and her husband Michael of Southwick, William Wesley Mundell of Monroe, GA, Elizabeth K. Tremblay and her husband Donald of Vernon, Michael C. Mundell and his wife Karen of Enfield; ten grandchildren, Tina Marie Pinder, Diana Lynn Johnson, Stacey Ann Bidwell, Fred Breitspecker, Barbara Wells, Jon Tremblay, Chris Tremblay, Danielle A.

Mundell, Christine L. Mundell, Michael C. Mundell 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by a son Marvin Lee Mundell and twelve brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 11 a.m.

at the Community Baptist Church 585 East Center Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Manchester. Born in Rumford, ME on April 23, 1915, daughter of the late John and Helen (Kelly) Bernier, she was raised in Maine and had lived in Washington, D.C. for a brief time, before moving to Vernon in 1957. Evangeline worked for the Treasury Department during World War II and later returned to work, after raising her family, at the Internal Revenue Service in Hartford as an auditor.

A communicant of St. Bernard Church in Rockville, she was a member of the Women's Guild for many years. During her retirement, Evangeline enjoyed taking trips with the Vernon Senior Center and with her sister both domestically and internationally. Most of all, she will be remembered as a very thoughtful, loving and hard working person who was devoted to her family. She leaves a son, Allan Pray of Vernon; a daughter, Elaine Pace and her husband Thomas of Manchester; a grandson, Anthony Shelto of Norwich; and a sister, Virginia Momper of Fort Wright, KY.

Besides her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Johnson. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m., at the Ladd-Turkington Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Vernon. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 5, 10-11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
