Born in NewBri Britain, (Holroyd) son of the late "John" and he grew up in New Britain Karanian, Ardemis (Dickranian) to Newington 20 years ago. Walmoving ter graduated from New Britain High School in 1954, where he loved all sports, especially football. During this time he also honed his skills as a salesman in the egg business with one of his brothers. After high school, he attended Vermont Academy, Saxtons River, VT and graduated in 1955. Walter made many friends at the Academy the time he spent theremembered pleasure.

He entered the U.S. Army, becoming a lab technician, serving eventually at the Army Hospital in La Chappelle, France. After the Army, Walter worked in a lab at Hartford Hospital, where he met his wife, Faye. He worked the last 18 years as 85 Lumber in Hebron. Waltercon.

tinued his interest in sports, coaching the New Britain Midget Football League for 17 years and then for several years in Newington when some of his sons played. He loved his family and yard where his grandchildren came to play and help with the gardening. and devoted father and grandfather, he leaves his five sons and his daughter, Henry Karanian and his wife, LeeAnn, of Lebanon, Van Karanian and his wife, Pam, of Burlington, Michael Karanian and his wife, Sandra, of Newington, Walter Karanian, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of San Franciso, CA, Christopher Karanian, of Manchester, Lisa Schuler and her husband, William, of East Berlin; his six grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, Ryan, Carson, Cambell Karanian, and Audrey Schuler. He also leaves his five brothers, Henry Karanian and Charles Karanian, both of New Britain, Richard Karanian, of TX, George Karanian, of Suffield and Arthur Karanian, Wethersfield; many loving nieces and nephews.

His beautiful smile and good nature will be remembered by all who knew him. His funeral services will be held Thursday, 9 a.m. from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Christian Newington, Burial, followed 10 a.m. by at a Mass.of of the Holy Sprit, Newington. Interment will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.

LANCE, Rondell "Deli" Rondell "Deli" LaBar Lance, 19, beloved son of Richard and Kathleen (Nickson) Lance, of Inverness, FL, formerly of Bloomfield was suddenly taken to his eternal home on Thursday, (May 15, 2003) in Hernando, FL. Born in Hartford, May 18, 1983, son of Richard E. and Kathleen (Nickson) Lance. He had lived in Bloomfield graduated from Bloomfield H.S. in 2001, moving to Florida two years ago.

He was employed at F.D.S. Disposal Company in Florida. He leaves besides his parents, five brothers, SPC Terrell Nickson of West Hartford, presently serving with Unit 248, National Guard, serving overseas in Kuwait, Jacquon Lance of Hartford, Kendall Lance and Aquien "Keno" Flowers both of Inverness, FL, and Jonathan Harris of Hartford; two sisters, Ivelisse "Lissie" Arroyo, and Shacayah Sims both of Hartford; his maternal grandmother, Rose Marie (Champion) Nickson of Windsor; two nieces, Tychell and Alicya; a nephew, Jamiah; an aunt, "Granma" Murtle Mason; an aunt and godmother, Anita Stellmachher both of Hartford; his godfather, Ernest Brooks of Hartford; an aunt Delores Lance of Florida; many other aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends. She also leaves her son and his wife, Jeffrey and Karen Malnick of West Hartford; a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Lyndon -McMullen of Australia; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 23, 10 a.m. in St. Pauls' Church, Glastonbury. Burial will be in Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury.

DEATH NOTICES LEFEBVRE, Richard Henry Richard Henry Lefebvre, 58, of Burlington, beloved husband of Dana L. (Baldwin) Lefebvre, passed away Monday, (May 2003) at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in Winsted, Feb.

1, 1945, son of Lillian M. (LeChance) Lefebvre of Winsted and the late Leonard R. Lefebvre. Prior to retiring in 2002, he was employed by in New Haven for 35 years. He was a U.S.

Army veteran of the Vietnam War era having served from 1964-1967. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his three brothers, James L. Lefebvre of Barkhamsted, Gary Lefebvre of Colebrook and Robert Lefebvre of Torrington; and his niece and several nephews. The memorial service will be held Friday, May 23, 11 a.m., in the First Church of Christ Congregational, 12 South Main West Hartford, with the Rev. Roger Daly officiating.

LEITAO, Margaret (Pronzini) Margaret (Pronzini) Leitao, 87, of South Windsor, wife of the late Albert Leitao, passed from this life on Monday (May 19, 2003) at a local nursing home. Margaret was born in Belgium and had a longtime resident of the South Windsor community. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, not mourn her death, special nieces and nephews, Paul Fonseca, Betty Fonseca, I Dottie Silva, Manny Fonseca, Mark Fonseca, and Steve Leitao. Margaret also leaves her brothers and sisters-in-law, Manny and Beatrice Fonseca, Julia Neves, George Santos, Sam and Grace Leitao, Jack and Lorraine Leitao, Alfred and Annette Leitao, Pinto Leitao, Carol Leitao, Joan Leitao; and many additional nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Susie Gus Neves, Joe Leitao, and Johnny Santos; and her brothers-in-law, Leitao.

Margaret was a fun loving, wonderful person who will be greatly missed. MASTERMAN, Richard Clayton Richard Clayton Masterman, 66, of Windsor, beloved husband of Janet (Plummer) Masterman, died Monday, (May 19, 2003) at St.

Francis Hospital. He was born in Framingham, MA, son of the late Clayton Marion (Wilcox) Masterman, and had lived in Mt. Laurel, NJ before moving to Windsor 22 years ago. Richard was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton of Business; and was employed for over 40 years as an insurance underwriter at CIGNA, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was past president of the Trinity United Methodist Church Men's Club, past chairman of the church trustees, a member of the finance committee and a Sunday School teacher.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Lynn Masterman of Atlanta, GA; a and daughter-in-law, David and Linda (Kratz) Masterman; and two grandchildren, Caleigh and Kyle Masterman, all of Medford, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23, 4 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Avenue, Windsor, with the Rev. Roy Jacobsen and Rev. James T. Eggimann officiating.

Jeffrey T. Morton, 58, of Manchester, the son of the late William and Constance (Ingersoll) Morton, died Tuesday, (May 20, 2003) in Manchester. Jeff was a lifelong resident of Manchester, received his Bachelors Degree from UCONN and was formerly employed at Pratt Whitney. He is survived by his son, Wesley G. Morton of Newark, DE; his daughter and son Wendy and Christopher in Marinan of Hebron; two grandsons, Jason and John Marinan; his step-mother, Lois Morton of Ft.

Myers, FL; and his brother, Robert Morton of Southington. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Manchester followed by a burial in East Cemetery. A visiting hour will held on Friday morning from 10-11 a.m.

DEATH NOTICES McCARTHY, Ruth Stone Ruth Stone McCarthy, 75, of Farmington, died Monday, (May 19, 2003) at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. Born Jan. 11, 1928, in Lowell, MA, daughter of the late Alfred and Marion (Gilbert) Stone. Prior to retiring, Ruth was a realtor in the Farmington area for many years and lastly was associated with Metro Realty Co.

She an active member of the Farmington Historical Society, served on the Republican Town Committee and was active in Republican Town Politics. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends reading, gardening, painting and quilting. She is survived by her four children and their spousKathleen and Paul Suprin of Waterford, Patricia and Steven Woodhouse of Greenland, NH, Rosemary and J. Gill of Kennett Square, PA and Thomas and Jean of Farmington; six grandchildren; and a great grandson. She was predeceased by her brother, William Stone and her sister, Patricia Hayden.

MUNROE, Jayne Elizabeth Jayne Elizabeth Munro, 44 year old daughter of John F. "Jack" and Joan (Duffy) Munro of Windsor Locks, entered into eternal rest Friday (May 16, 2003) at the Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV surrounded by her loving family. Jayne was born in Hartford and grew up in Windsor Locks where she graduated Windsor Locks High School in 1976.

She had lived in New Cumberland, WV and had been employed as a hotel manager at the Mountaineer Resort. She also was employed by the Immaculate Conception Church in New Cumberland. Her close friend, Reverend Ronald A Getsinger, celebrated a funeral mass there for her on Monday May 19. Besides her parents, she is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Jacquelyn Gustafson and her husband, Carl of West Hartford and Joleen Yorio and her husband, Peter, of Hebron. She also leaves her niece, Rebecca Yorio and her two nephews, Nicholas Yorio and Eric Gustafson.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather Saturday, May 24, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Windsor Locks where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jayne. Private burial will be in Mary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

Netinho, husband of the late Eleanor (Enos) Netinho, died Tuesday (May 20, 2003) at Rockville General Hospital, Vernon.

Born in Maderia Island, Portugal, the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Soares) Netinho, he lived in New Bedford, MA for 80 years, before moving to Vernon in 1995. Antonio had worked for the city of New Bedford, MA for many years, prior to his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Miriam Underwood of Ellington; his grandson, Glenn Underwood of Manchester; his granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Salvatore Cantone of Bolton; great granddaughter, Nicole Cantone brothers, Manuel Netinho of So. Dartmouth, MA, Donald Netinho of Florida and Richard of New Bedford, MA; his four sisters, Adeline Perry of Raynham, MA, Alice Flor of New Bedford, MA, Filomena Stringer of Florida, Rose McGuire of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Varoa and his brother Frank.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth New Bedford, MA at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John's Church, 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford, MA.

Born and raised in Danbury, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Clara Cote. On February 8, 1957, she married the love of her life, John Neves of Danbury and they shared 37 wonderful years before his passing in 1993. While Danbury, Bea worked for Mallory Hat and Heli Coil Co. The family moved to Enfield in 1964. For the last 25 years, she worked for Hamilton Sunstrand where she enjoyed her work and considered her coworkers a second family.

She is survived by her devoted son, John Neves Jr. of Enfield who was always by her side, and his companion Debby Wassell, her loving son and daughter- Frank and Pam Neves of W. Suffield, her baby sister Gloria and her husband Rudolph Picard of Bethel, her nephew Ronald, nieces Joann and Tina, her dear sister-in-law Hilda and husband Leroy Barrett of Danbury, and cousins Jeanne and Diane Patti as well as numerous extended family members and friends in and around Enfield, Danbury and Sherbrooke Canada, all of whom she always held close to her heart. Bea was profoundly dedicated to her family and took great joy in attending any sporting event involving her husband and sons as player, coach or official. She loved the slot machines and a Manhattan straight up.

She was one of the best parts of our lives and will always be deeply missed. Family and friends may call Thursday, May 22, 2003, from 2-4 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. at Leete Stevens Enfield Chapels in Enfield. The funeral procession will assemble at 9:15 a.m.

Harold Phelps, 74, of Middletown, died peacefully, Monday, (May 19, 2003) after a long illness. He was predeceased by his friend, companion, and wife Jean (McLean) Phelps. He is survived by his only daughter, Carrie Walton and her husband David, and his devoted grandsons Jason Christopher Walton of Cromwell. He also leaves behind his sister Anita Giroux and her husband Lucian, of Florida. He is also survived by three brothers, Stuart Phelps of Wethersfield, Paul Phelps and his wife Camille, of Hartford, and Frank Phelps and his wife Mary of North Carolina.

He was an auto mechanic for almost 40 years at Dom's Auto Electric and Reliable Auto Tire, both in Hartford. Harold was a veteran, serving as a paratrooper in the 51st Airborne Division of the armed forces during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 200 in Rocky until the onset of his illness. Other than his family he had a true passion for his artwork. He was a self-taught artist, and excelled in oil and acrylic, paints, charcoal, and pen drawings.

Over the years, he won recognition from competition judges and fellow artists for his creativity and passion for his artwork. He will be truly missed from all that knew him as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and trusted friend. The Family would like their thanks to go out to the caring staff of Harbor Hill Care Center in Middletown whose loving devotion to Harold's comfort and well being were unsurpassed. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m from the Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook Street Rocky Hill followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook Street Rocky Hill at 12 Noon.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call, Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. PUGLISI, Santo "Sandy" Santo "Sandy" Puglisi, 92, of Groton, formerly of Newington, died Tuesday, (May 20, 2003). He was the husband of Mildred (Evans) Puglisi.

He was born on September 9, 1910 in Gloucester, MA, the son of Salvatore and Joanna (Giovanni) Puglisi and attended Gloucester schools. He was an Army Staff Sargeant serving with the American Division during World War Il. He later worked as the Dietetic Chief of Production and Services for the U.S. Civil Service Commission. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, a.m.

Querido, departed this life on Monday, (May 19, 2003) at Mediplex in Wethersfield. Born in Mira de Aire, Portugal, on February 23, 1909, she came to the United States with her three children by ship, during World War II, in April, 1944 to live with her husband, Ernesto. Victoria's passion in life was her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren. She was her family's anchor and foundation and always found hope in bad times, never complaining.

Victoria enjoyed cooking, was employed at the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Hartford for 16 years and was a member the Portuguese Club of Newington for 39 years. Victoria was a faithful member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford, for 59 years. Her faith was strong and she prayed daily. "Ma, you will live through us She is survived by three children, Manuel Querido of Arizona, Maria Pedemonti of California and Joseph Querido of Hartford; five grandchildren; eight at and a half-sister, Julia Trinidad Lopes of Florida.

She was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters. Funeral procession will be Friday, 9 a.m. from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

Riley was a graduate of Avon High School and S.U.N.Y at Potsdam with a Bachelor's degree in music education. She taught piano at the Hart School of Music at the University of Hartford as well as privately in her home, primarily teaching young children. Mrs. Riley was a committed member of the Potter's House Christian Church in Farmington and faithfully served keyboardist on the Potter's House worship team. She also served with her husband in other ministries of the Church.

Besides her husband she is survived by her! beloved daughter, Ellen Rose and son, Michael Timothy Riley both at home in Burlington; her parents, Joan and Olin Hentz of Salem, NC; her sister, Sherri Smith of Charlotte, NC; and her brother, Olin Hentz of Plainville. Sr. Raymond J. "Bud" Spencer, 72, of Lee Middletown, husband of Anastasia (Eagle) Spencer, died Monday, (May 19, 2003) at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Helen B.

(Lee) Spencer and had lived in Middletown all of his life. Bud began plumbing in 1949 and started his own business called Bud's Plumbing and ing, which later became incorporated in 1961. He ably served many customers in the greater Middletown area and many became friends. During most of his time in business, he was assisted by a faithful employee Robert Deckelman, and later joined by his son, Jesse, who now operates the business. The company still performs work forth daughter of his first customer.

Bud retired in 1992 although still taking an interest in the daily operations. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time at his camp, Windy Hill in Milo, ME. Where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, attending events, or just laying back. He also split and chopped wood, grew balsam Christmas trees and made wreaths. His greatest pleasure was mowing open fields on one of his four Ford tractors.

In Middletown, he cultivated a large garden started by his father. He grew everything from asparagus to zucchini, which he shared with family and friends. He especially liked tinkering with the tractors, which he used to do yard work and plow snow. He was a caring and considerate man and will be greatly missed by his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, R.

Burkle and her husband Brian of Higganum, Melissa Spencer of Middletown, Chris Fazzino of Higganum, Sarah Fazzino of Higganum; three great grandchildren; one sister, Marion S. Harris and her husband Warren of Middletown; one niece, one nephew, and many cousins near and far. Funeral services will be held at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Middletown, on Friday, May 23rd at 11 a.m. The Rev. R.

Maureen Hawksley, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate and interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 76 High Middletown, CT 06457. TRACEY, Violet Violet Tracey, 84, a native of New Haven, died Thursday, (April 24, 2003) at her home in Palm Beach Shores, FL. A graduate of Peter's School in New Haven, Saint Francis School of Nursing, Hartford, Boston College and Columbia University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Nursing Education and Public Health. She made nursing her life career and also was a veteran of the U.S. Army Nurse Corp serving in the South Pacific and with the Occupational Forces in Japan.

Following her Army service, she worked at the Visiting Nurse Association of Hartford before becoming the Associate Director of the Visiting Nurse Association of Worcester, MA. Upon retirement she made her home at Palm Beach Shores, FL. She was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Riviera Beach. She is survived by her long time friend, Virginia Walsh of Palm Beach Shores, FL; her brother, Robert Tracey and his wife, Mary Ann of New Haven; her sister, Mrs. Sally Tracey Cahill and her husband, George of Branford; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Erwin S. Tracey, founder of Tracey Oil Company; her mother, Violet Mackey Tracey; and her brother, Erwin S. Tracey, Jr. A Memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be at Saint Mary's Church in Branford on May 24 at 12 Noon. WILSON, Mark-Anthony, Sr. Mark-Anthony Vance Wilson, 47, of Waterbury, passed away on Saturday (May 17, 2003). He leaves his wife, Debra Elaine Wilson; three sons, MarkAnthony Vance Wilson, Dana Monticello Wilson and Antone Lemar Wilson, all of Waterbury; a brother, John William Wilson of Holyoke, MA; a sister, Patricia A. Robins of Bloomfield; and three grandchildren, DaShawn Monticello Wilson, DeVynne Elaine Wilson and Aliyana Shyair Wilson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 23, 11 a.m.
