DEATH NOTICES BENDER, Hannah (Miller) Hannah (Miller) Bender, of West Hartford died Monday, (April 14, 2003). She was the beloved wife of the late John Bender. Born in Ellington she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rachel Miller.

She was employed by Sage Allen Co. and was an active long time volunteer of the Hebrew Home and Hospital and for the Bloomfield Senior Center. She is survived by daughter, Roberta Bender of New York City, NY and her son Joshua Bender of Santa Rosa, CA; and many dear friends. Interment was private on at the Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Ellington with Rabbi Marshal Press officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital.

Funeral arrangements provided by the Hebrew Funeral Association, 906 Farmington West Hartford. CASELLA, Ralph G. (Blinn), Sr. (Cararini) Casella passed away Friday, (April 18, 2003). He was born February 28, 1925 in New Britain a son of the late Ralph F.

and Agnes (Blinn) Casella. Ralph was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War Il serving in Europe as a radio operator with the Airborne Troop Carrier Command. He was a firefighter for 25 years with the New Britain Fire Department, retiring in 1979. He was also a member of the Amber Club in New Britain.

Including Dorothy, his beloved wife of 57 years, he is survived by daughter, Robin Mulhall and her fiance, Michael Momparler of Westbrook; three grandchildren, Jessica Mulhall, Brian Mulhall and Gwendolyn Casella; and a great granddaughter, Rosalie Casella. Ralph was predeceased by a son, Ralph G. Casella, Jr. and a sister, Patricia Casella. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22, at 11 a.m.

DEATH NOTICES CLOUGH, Margaret Siebert Margaret Siebert Clough, 96, widow of the late Anson McNeil Clough died Thursday (April 17, 2003). She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Hartford Golf Club, Town and County and the Widows Society.

Her first husband, Frederick M. Siebert died in 1950; her two sisters, Mrs. John E. Lovely and Miss Isobel Anderson; and the late Walter J. Clough of Rumson, N.J.

predeceased her. She is survived by a stepson, Anson W. Clough of East Orleans, MA; five grandchildren, Peter A. Clough of Naperville, IL, Alice J. Clough of Tortola, BVI, William M.

COOLEY, Margaret (Salerni) Margaret (Salerni) Cooley, 85, passed away peacefully Saturday (April 19, 2003) at her home on Harrison Street, New Britain, the Cooley family residence since Dr. Clifton Cooley began his medical practice in 1918. Margaret was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Adeline Salerni, and the widow of Clifton Cooley Jr. For 22 years, she worked with Special Education students in the New Britain schools, and upon her retirement, she volunteered her services in literacy support at Lincoln School until she was 84 years old.

She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, the St. Maurice Rosary Guild, and had served as both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Margaret delighted in time spent with her family, she took great pride in their never missed attending their performances, athletic events or graduations. She shared her joy and talents in cooking, sewing, gardening, and love of music and will be remembered with great fondness by all who knew her. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Clifton and Sharon Cooley of Colchester, Robert and Barbara Cooley of Kensington, Patricia and Thomas Doyle of Danbury, and William and Mercedes Cooley of Cary, NC.

Margaret was the devoted grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 9 a.m. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin New Britain, going to St. Maurice Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St.

Brother of Mark W. DeBisschop and wife Ann of Illinois. Born July 14,1941 in Waterbury a son of the late Frank C. and Louise Wadsworth DeBisschop. He was a graduate of the University of CT and the University of Hartford, and then became a history teacher at the Cheshire High School, a position he held for 38 years.

He was a past president of the Cheshire Education Assoc. and was a former Selectman for the Town of Bethany. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption, (Mother Church), 1698 Litchfield Turnpike, Woodbridge. Hartford, CT 06108. Arrangements are with Sisk Brother Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Hamden. FARRAR, Vivian I. (Johnson) Vivian I. (Johnson) Farrar, 89, of Plainville, away on Friday, (April 18, 2003) at Plainville Health Care Center.

She was born on June 6, 1913, the daughter of the late Albin and Ada (Peterson) Johnson. She was a Plainville resident before moving to Woodland Hills, CA in 1955, and moved back to Plainville in 1991. She leaves a daughter, June E. Lemanski and her husband, Walter of Plainville; two granddaughters, Patricia Santacroce of Litchfield and Susan Kopec of Bristol; a greatgrandson, Joseph Santacroce; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, James Lemanski.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Plainville. Relatives and friends may gather one hour before the service, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Plainville.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff on South 2 at Plainville Health Care, as well as everyone from the Hospice of Central Connecticut in Plainville. Frederick Faipler of Berlin, died' Friday (April 18, 2003) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Punxsutawnay, he lived in the Britain area since 1963. He was employed at Pratt Whitney Aircraft-East Hartford for 23 years, retiring in 1989. Fred found Christ in 1975 and was an active member at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Newington where he served in various church ministries.

Surviving is his wife, Fran (Hom) Faipler; three sons, Frederick Faipler Jr. of Moodus, Terry Faipler of New Britain, and Thomas Faipler of Glastonbury; a daughter, Brenda Pearson of Old Lyme; two step sons, Christopher Eng of Kernersville, NC and Geof Eng of Arrow, OK; a brother, Alfred Faipler of Erie, PA; five sisters, Florence O'Neal, Kathleen Reams, and Lorraine Lee, all of Durham, NC; Judith Stewart of Pensecola, FL and Millie Dennis of Hampton, VA; four grandchildren, Jesse, T.J., Jack and Danielle Faipler; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 296 New Britain Newington, CT 06111. Burial will be at the families convenience at Rose Hill Memorial Park. There are no calling hours.

Gee, Ill, 12, and Matthew Edward Gee, 10. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Russell Gee, M.D. and Ruth Sharp Gee formerly of Tarrytown, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Erlyne Gee and her husband Brian Silverman; a mother-in-law Martha Richey; father-in-law and his wife, Edward and Ginger Peters; three sisters-in-law and their spouses, Julie and Scott Stratton, Janna and David Lhota, and Jennifer and Gary Burr; a brother-inlaw and his spouse, James Peters and Ana-Mari Woehr; and five nephews and three nieces. Russ was born on June 23, 1958 in the Bronx, NY.

He grew up in Tarrytown, NY and graduated from Hackley School in 1976. Upon graduation, he received a Bachelors in Science from Williams College in Williamstown, MA in 1980, a Masters Degree in Public Health from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA in 1982 and a Medical from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 1986. He completed his orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and received a fellowship at the Hospital for Bone and Joint Disease in New York, NY for foot and ankle reconstructive surgery in 1992. Prior to his death, he was a partner with Grove Hill Medical Center, Department of Orthopedics located in New Britain.

He was also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He was a wonderful, caring doctor and will always be remembered as a dedicated and compassionate practitioner by his colleagues and patients. During high school and college, Russ excelled academically as well as in numerous athletic activities. While attending Williams College, he was a member of the collegiate football and lacrosse teams. He shared this passion for outdoor activities and sports with his wife and two sons.

Aside from his dedication and devotion to his family, Russ was actively involved with the West Hartford Youth Sports league as an Assistant Coach for lacrosse and was actively involved with his son's football and hockey teams. He also donated his time and skills as a physician for the Newington High School football team and Beat the Streets Boxing Club. He will be deeply missed and remembered with love by his family and friends and everyone whose lives he touched. Dr. Gee gave the gift of life through organ donation.

In honor of his incredible life, donations can be made in the memory of Russell O. She leaves her beloved husband of 39 years, Stanley Goldberg. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Jacob (Jack) and Esther (Berinsky) Cohen. She was an accomplished pianist and graduated from Weaver High School and The Hartt College of Music. She had retired from N.C.C.I., Inc. She volunteered at the Hartford Hospital Organ Donation Center and the Harry Gray Cancer Center.

She was an usher for many years at the Tanglewood Summer Music Festival. Sybil and Stanley have been members of Temple Beth Hillel of South Windsor. Besides her husband Stanley she leaves, her brother and his wife, Alan and Barbara Cohen of Hamden; nephews, Jonathan Cohen and his wife Joan Gallagher of Blacksburg, VA, Jeremy Cohen of Manhattan, NY, Douglas Cohen of Pasadena, CA, David Goldberg of Burbank, CA; and niece, Debra (Goldberg) Weiland and her husband, Jeff of Rochester, NY; her brother-in-law and his wife, Arthur and Carol Goldberg of Norfolk, VA; her aunt Esther Berins of West Hartford; and several cousins. The sweet spirit of her musical soul will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at the Temple Beth Hillel, 20 Baker South Windsor on Monday, April 21 at 12 noon with Rabbi Jeffrey Glickman officiating.

Interment will follow at the Temple Beth Hillel Cemetery in Vernon. DEATH NOTICES GOLDBERG, Sybil (Cohen) HAIMS, Louis, Dr. Dr. Louis Haims, 87, of Rockville, MD, formerly of West Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, (April 16, 2003). Born in New York City, NY, Dr. Haims graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1939 and then from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine postdoctoral program.

He practiced in Hartford for over 40 years, and was a lifelong member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Haims was active in the Hartford Podiatric Society and held several offices. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Medical Corps. His many pursuits included walking, nutrition, and especially after his retirement painting and bread baking.

He and his wife, the late Bessie (Feldman) Haims, were founding members of the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford. He is survived by three children, Lynne F. Haims, Ph.D. and her husband, Roger A. Lewis of Silver Spring, MD; Attorney Howard J.

and his wife Natasha of West Hartford; and Mark B. Haims, DMD and his wife, Erica Bloch also of West Hartford. He leaves six grandchildren, Kimberly (Lewis), Barbara, Michael, Brian, Melissa and Danielle (Haims). He will be sorely missed. Internment will take place TODAY, April 20, 2 p.m.

Janssen of Monroeville, PA, David A. Janssen of Manchester and Conrad P. Janssen of Willington; brother of Louise Brandt of Manchester and the late Helen, Theodore and Julius Janssen; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was born in Manchester on October 28, 1909 son of the late Julius and Helena Jutting Jansen. Prior to retirement he was a butcher and owner of the Hoffman Market, East Hartford.

He was a member of the North Branford Congregational Church and was a former publicity manager for the Boy Scouts in Manchester. He had previously been a member of the choir of the Covenant Congregational Church, Manchester and volunteered at the Open Hearth Mission in Hartford. A golfer, he was the only American member of the Falmouth Country Club in Cornwall, England. Hains, devoted wife, caring mother, wonderful grandmother and great grandmother and true friend to many in New Jersey, Florida, and Texas, passed away after a long illness at home oh Friday (April 4, 2003).

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 21, 1919. She married her high school sweetheart, and settled in Manasquan, NJ, where, for 27 years, she worked as a legal secretary and raised a family. She was active in the Monmouth County Assn. of Legal Secretaries and rose to become President of the National Assn. of Legal Secretaries.

As President of NALS, she traveled extensively, many times with family, and was awarded the keys to many cities across our great country. In 1979 she and her husband retired to Florida. After the death of her husband, she moved to Georgetown, TX, to be near her daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter. The family has fond memories of four generations of "girls" dressing alike on Mother's Day and enjoying many times together. Haru had many passions and interests; from singing in the Church choir, to entertaining family and friends at home, to a love of art and culture.

She enjoyed theatre in New York City, beach parties in New Jersey, sailing with family in Connecticut and Florida, wildflower outings in Texas and Scrabble and Boggle games anywhere. Mom was game to do most anything and was a constant source of stimulation and love for her family. Haru is survived by her children, Sue Hains of Georgetown, TX and Michael L. Hains Old Saybrook; sisters, Hana Conover, Mina Kaneshiro and Constance Hazen; grandchildren, Marie Wright of Round Rock, TX, Michael Hains of Connecticut and Lori Scearbo of Massachusetts. She had seven great grandchildren, Jordan Marie Wright, Jacob, Lily and Sophie Scearbo, Mickey and Jenna Hains.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shoki and Anna Kaneshiro, her husband, Roy D. Hains; sisters, Neddie and Yoshi. HAMILTON, Lucy Griswold Mrs. Lucy Griswold Hamilton, 78, died early Frimorning, (April 18, 2003) in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, VT. A native of the Wethersfield area Mrs. Hamilton has been a resident of Shelburne, VT since 1971 and more recently made her home with her daughter and sonin-law, Heidi and Rick Slade on Oak Creek Drive in South Burlington, VT. She has been a member of the Shelburne United Methodist Church, Shelburne Gardening Club, Klifa Club of Burlington and the Burlington Chapter of the National PEO.

A devoted and loving grandmother she will also be remembered for her love of gardening and crafts. She was born in Hartford, July 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Harry Newton and Edith (Hubby) Griswold. Following her marriage to Gordon Willis Hamilton on March 27, 1942, she moved to Yarmouth, ME resided there until moving to Shelburne, VT in 1971. They also summered many years on Chebeague Island. Her husband Gordon predeceased her on May 31, 1998.

Mrs. Hamilton leaves two daughters and their husbands, Martha and Jeff Champagne of Hinesburg, VT and Heidi and Rick Slade of South Burlington, VT; two brothers, James Jesse" Griswold and Newton Griswold and his wife Marcia all of Wethersfield; one sister, Mrs. Mary Brownsword of Waterford; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ramona Hamilton Detjens of Yarmouth, ME; three grandchildren, Tyler, Eliza and Jackson Slade of South Burlington, VT; as well as many nieces and nephews.
