Plans Are Underway For 8th LaSalette Presentation The Very Rev. Michael J. Cox, Provincial Superior of the Missionary Fathers of Our Lady of LaSalette, announces plans for the eighth annual LaSalette Presentation Ball, the evening of Dec. 28 at 8 p.m. at the Hartford Hilton Hotel.

Since its inaugaration, eight years a ago, the Ball has adopted for its charitable end the education tion of young men who are to become priests and missionaries with the LaSalette Fathers, a mission society whose headquarters are located in Hartford. This society sends missionaries to the needy areas of the world, particularly the Far East and South America. The contribution made by the Presentation Ball has always been gratifying but is appreciated even more 1 in today's world with its rising education costs and the need there is for longer and more exacting seminary training. Since Vatican II the Mission- ary needs a broader concept of his own role in the world, and in particular, a better idea of service to all people in a social as well as in a material context. A concern for both aspects of life is part of the contemporary missionary view.

The efforts of the PresentaBall helps meet the expenses of seminary training and also those who must attend universities, where there is a wider choice of helpful courses, particularly in the social sciences. At the present time, the LaSalette seminarians and priests are enrolled in half a dozen universities at home and aboard, including Brown University and the University of Dublin. The most recent mission undertaken by the LaSalette Fathers was in Argentina in 1964. There are ten priests working there at the present time. Phone 522-0181 a Open Thurs.
